Summary

This GCC-spec BMW M2 represents the sought-after 'Original' F87 generation, prized by enthusiasts for its agility and mechanical purity. The Grey exterior remains one of the most stable colors for resale in the local market, offering a professional yet aggressive look that hides road dust well. While the mileage is slightly above the regional average, it reflects the typical highway usage of UAE commuters, which is often preferable to the heat stress of low-speed city idling. As a genuine M-division product, it delivers a more focused driving experience than its rivals, combining track-ready hardware with daily usability. This is an ideal entry point for a GCC buyer seeking a modern classic that remains sharp and relevant on modern highways.

This Car vs Other 2017 M2s

At 140,500 km, this vehicle has been driven roughly 20,000 km per year, which aligns perfectly with the UAE's annual average. Unlike many imported examples, this is a genuine GCC-spec car, ensuring the cooling systems and electronics are built to withstand 45°C+ summer peaks. The Grey paintwork is a high-liquidity choice in the regional market, generally holding value better than more niche colors like Long Beach Blue.

STANDARD vs Lower Trims

The M2 is a bespoke performance model that adds significant hardware over the M240i, including the wider bodywork, M4-derived aluminum suspension, and the Active M Differential. This 'Standard' trim includes the M-DCT dual-clutch transmission for lightning-fast shifts and the professional navigation system essential for UAE traffic. Buyers also benefit from the upgraded braking system and quad-exhaust setup that differentiates a true M car from the standard 2 Series range.

M2 vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the Mercedes-AMG CLA 45, the M2 offers a more traditional rear-wheel-drive layout and the smooth power delivery of a straight-six engine rather than a highly-strung four-cylinder. It features a larger footprint than the Audi RS3, providing a more stable feel during high-speed drives between Emirates. The M2 leads the segment in driver engagement, offering a mechanical connection that rivals with all-wheel-drive systems often lack.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption averages around 8.5L/100km on long highway stretches, though expect higher figures in stop-start traffic in Dubai or Riyadh. Service intervals are typically every 10,000 to 12,000 km, with a comprehensive authorized service network available throughout the UAE and Saudi Arabia. The F87 generation M2 has shown remarkably low depreciation in the GCC, often retaining a higher percentage of its value than larger M3 or M4 models due to its cult status among local enthusiasts.

Performance & Capability

The 3.0L turbocharged engine produces 365 hp, enabling a 0–100 km/h sprint of just 4.3 seconds with the DCT gearbox. Its electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h ensures it is never out of its depth on fast-moving highways like the E11. The chassis uses lightweight aluminum components and a standard Active M Differential to provide exceptional grip and balance through corners, whether on a weekend drive to Jebel Jais or a daily commute.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin features a driver-centric 4-seat layout with Dakota leather upholstery and blue contrast stitching. The air conditioning system is specifically tuned for the GCC climate, maintaining a cool interior even during peak summer months. For practicality, it offers a 390-liter boot, which is surprisingly generous for a compact performance coupe, making it capable of handling weekly grocery runs or airport trips.

Safety

This M2 comes equipped with a comprehensive safety suite including Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) with a specific M Dynamic Mode for increased agility. Standard safety features include multiple airbags, ABS with Brake Assist, and ISOFIX child seat mounts in the rear. For highway safety, it features high-performance compound brakes that offer consistent stopping power and fade resistance, vital for navigating the high-speed traffic environment of the GCC.

The bottom line

For the enthusiast looking for a high-performance daily driver with a verified GCC pedigree, this M2 offers the perfect balance of iconic M-power and regional suitability.
