Summary

This 2017 Cadillac CT6 Platinum offers a rare combination of executive luxury and high-mileage value, positioning it as a smart alternative to European flagship sedans. As the range-topping Platinum trim, it comes equipped with nearly every available technological feature, including the sophisticated Bose Panaray sound system and advanced chassis control. The grey exterior is a highly practical choice for the GCC, maintaining its look against desert dust while securing strong resale interest in the UAE market. With its spacious five-seat layout and smooth V6 power, this GCC-spec sedan is perfectly suited for long highway commutes between emirates where cabin refinement and cooling are paramount.

This Car vs Other 2017 CT6s

With 137,700 km on the odometer, this CT6 sits at a typical mileage for a well-maintained executive sedan in the GCC, where long-distance highway driving is standard. Unlike base models, this Platinum trim retains a higher percentage of its original value due to the sheer volume of high-end equipment included. The grey finish is one of the most resilient colors for local weather, effectively hiding light dust and resisting sun-fade better than darker alternatives.

PLATINUM vs Lower Trims

The Platinum trim represents the pinnacle of Cadillac's engineering for 2017, adding features that are often missing on Luxury or Premium Luxury trims. Most notably, it includes the 34-speaker Bose Panaray system and the Active Chassis Package, which features Magnetic Ride Control and active rear-wheel steering for enhanced agility. Inside, Platinum owners enjoy upgraded Semi-Aniline leather, ventilated front and rear seats, and a dual-screen rear entertainment system.

CT6 vs Segment Rivals

The CT6 is designed to compete with the BMW 7 Series and Mercedes-Benz S-Class but stands out by offering a much lighter chassis for more agile handling. It leads many rivals in front legroom, providing a more spacious environment for the driver, which is a major advantage for those who prefer to drive themselves rather than being chauffeured. Additionally, the CT6 Platinum offers high-end features like Night Vision and a 360-degree camera as standard, equipment that often requires expensive packages on German competitors.

Running Costs & Resale

The 3.6L V6 is a reliable naturally aspirated powertrain well-suited to the GCC's high temperatures, avoiding the heat-soak issues sometimes associated with older turbocharged engines. While luxury sedans in this class experience steeper depreciation than Japanese SUVs, the CT6 Platinum has stabilized well, benefiting from Cadillac's extensive service network through Al Ghandi and Liberty across the UAE. Service intervals are typically every 10,000 km, and parts availability is strong throughout the region.

Performance & Capability

Equipped with a refined V6 engine and an 8-speed automatic transmission, the CT6 delivers a smooth and linear power delivery ideal for highway cruising. The Active Chassis Package is a standout feature, utilizing Magnetic Ride Control to read the road a thousand times per second, ensuring a flat ride even on uneven surfaces. The addition of four-wheel steering significantly reduces the turning circle, making this large sedan surprisingly easy to maneuver in tight city parking environments in Dubai or Abu Dhabi.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is a sanctuary of American luxury, featuring quad-zone climate control that is specifically tuned to handle 45°C+ summer peaks. All five passengers benefit from a highly insulated cabin designed to minimize road noise, while the articulated rear seats allow passengers to find the perfect reclining position. The 34-speaker Panaray system uses specialized headrest speakers to create a personal soundstage for each occupant, turning long desert drives into a premium acoustic experience.

Safety

Safety is comprehensive on the Platinum trim, featuring a full suite of driver-assistance technologies including Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Alert, and Lane Keep Assist. The industry-first Surround Vision recorder and Night Vision camera provide extra layers of security during night drives on unlit desert highways. Blind-spot monitoring and Rear Cross Traffic Alert are also standard, providing essential support in fast-moving multi-lane traffic.

The bottom line

This CT6 Platinum is an ideal choice for the executive buyer who wants flagship luxury and advanced technology without the premium price tag of a German equivalent. It offers a fully-loaded GCC-spec experience that is ready for immediate daily use across the Emirates.
