Summary

This specific sedan represents a rare middle-ground for the GCC market, offering a high-performance six-cylinder engine paired with mileage that sits well below the regional average for its age. While most vehicles from this era locally have surpassed the 150,000 km mark, this example has been driven sparingly, preserving its mechanical integrity and cabin condition. The black exterior is one of the most sought-after finishes in the UAE and wider GCC, ensuring strong resale liquidity and a timeless presence on the road. This model distinguishes itself from the entry-level four-cylinder variants by providing a genuine rear-wheel-drive sports sedan experience that handles the high-speed demands of the E11 and Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road with total composure. For a buyer in the region, the combination of Toyota-backed reliability and the prestige of a luxury brand makes this a highly rational yet emotive purchase. The most important consideration for a local buyer is the consistency of parts availability and the widespread expertise of technicians across all seven emirates and neighboring countries. This is a vehicle designed to thrive in our demanding climate while offering a level of engagement that its European competitors struggle to match in terms of long-term maintenance costs.

This Car vs Other 2017 IS350s

With only 88,000 km on the odometer, this vehicle has covered significantly less ground than the typical 2017 model in the GCC, where 20,000 to 25,000 km per year is the standard. This lower duty cycle translates to less wear on the suspension components and cooling system, both of which are critical in our high-temperature environment. The black paintwork maintains a deep luster and remains a top-tier choice for resale value in the local market, often commanding a premium over less traditional colors. While it is an American spec vehicle, it has been maintained to high standards, and the mileage advantage makes it a standout choice compared to higher-mileage GCC spec alternatives. Buyers will find the interior buttons, leather upholstery, and trim pieces show far less wear than is typical for a car of this age. Choosing this specific unit allows a buyer to step into a late-model luxury experience without the wear and tear usually associated with a seven-year-old daily driver.

IS350 vs Lower Trims

Stepping up to this specific model level provides a level of mechanical depth that the IS200t or IS300 variants simply cannot match, most notably through the 3.5-liter naturally aspirated V6. This engine is legendary in the GCC for its ability to withstand extreme heat without the heat-soak issues sometimes found in smaller turbocharged engines. Beyond the power, this trim usually includes more robust climate control features and upgraded interior materials that feel significantly more premium during daily commutes. The audio experience is also elevated, often featuring higher speaker counts and better sound staging to drown out highway road noise. For the driver, the larger brakes and sport-tuned suspension geometry of this tier provide a more confident stance during high-speed cornering or emergency maneuvers. It is this balance of luxury features and mechanical superiority that consistently makes this trim the most desirable version on the used market.

IS350 vs Segment Rivals

When compared to rivals like the BMW 3 Series or the Audi A4, this vehicle wins on the front of long-term durability and simplified maintenance in the GCC. While German rivals often require specialized sensors and complex diagnostic tools that can be expensive to source in the region, this model shares many core components with the wider Toyota family, ensuring parts are available in almost any industrial area from Sharjah to Muscat. It offers a larger naturally aspirated engine compared to the smaller turbocharged units found in many counterparts, providing smoother power delivery for the long, flat highway stretches of the UAE. The air conditioning system is also widely regarded as superior, capable of reaching sub-zero temperatures much faster than its European peers during the peak of summer. Furthermore, the rear-wheel-drive platform provides a more traditional and engaging driving feel that purists in the region tend to value over front-wheel-drive alternatives. This sedan successfully marries the high-speed stability of a luxury car with the bulletproof reputation of its parent company.

Running Costs & Resale

Owners can expect a real-world fuel consumption of approximately 10.5 to 11.5 liters per 100km, which is efficient for a 311-horsepower V6 when cruising on highways. In stop-start traffic in downtown Dubai or Riyadh, this may increase, but the use of standard Super 98 or Special 95 fuel makes it easy to refuel anywhere in the GCC. Servicing typically occurs every 10,000 km, and because of the massive Lexus and Toyota footprint in the region, authorized service centers are abundant in every major city. This model experiences some of the lowest depreciation rates in the luxury sedan segment, typically losing only 8-10% of its value annually compared to the 15% seen in some European rivals. Even at the seven-year mark, the resale market for this specific engine configuration remains incredibly strong due to high demand in the secondary market. Parts like filters, brake pads, and spark plugs are readily available at competitive prices, keeping long-term maintenance costs predictable and manageable. This car is essentially a safe-haven asset in the automotive world, retaining a high percentage of its original value over time.

Performance & Capability

The heart of this sedan is the 311-horsepower V6, which allows for a 0-100 km/h sprint in roughly 5.7 seconds. This performance is perfectly suited for the UAE's fast-paced traffic, making highway overtaking effortless and safe even when fully loaded with passengers. The six-cylinder engine provides a melodic growl that adds an element of character often missing from modern four-cylinder alternatives. With a rear-wheel-drive layout, the car offers excellent balance and steering precision, which is particularly enjoyable on the winding mountain roads of Jebel Jais or Hafit. The automatic transmission is tuned for smoothness, providing imperceptible shifts during casual city driving while sharpening up when the driver demands more power. Ground clearance is typical for a sports sedan, meaning it handles speed bumps and urban transitions with ease, though it is strictly a tarmac-focused machine. The cooling system is over-engineered to maintain peak performance even when the external temperature gauge hits the high 40s, a vital trait for any car operated in this region.

Comfort & Cabin

The interior is a focused, driver-centric environment that seats five in high-quality leather upholstery designed to resist the intense UV rays of the Middle East. Lexus is famous for its powerful HVAC systems, and this cabin can be chilled to a comfortable temperature in minutes, even after being parked in direct sunlight. The seats are ergonomically sculpted to provide support during long cross-country drives, such as the trek between Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Cabin insulation is a high point, with extensive sound-deadening materials used to minimize wind and tire noise at highway speeds. The premium audio system provides a rich, immersive experience, making the daily commute much more enjoyable. Rear passengers benefit from dedicated air vents, ensuring that the cooling is consistent throughout the vehicle. Whether used for executive commuting or small family trips, the cabin remains a serene and luxurious sanctuary from the heat and noise of the outside world.

Safety

Safety is a paramount feature of this model, which holds a 5-star rating and comes equipped with a comprehensive suite of active safety technologies. Features like Blind Spot Monitoring are incredibly useful on the multi-lane highways of the GCC, where fast-moving cars can appear quickly in adjacent lanes. The vehicle includes several airbags, including knee airbags for the driver and front passenger, providing protection in various impact scenarios. Stability and traction control systems are finely tuned to handle the occasional sandy surface or the rare but slick rainy days on local roads. Standard anti-lock brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution ensure that stopping distances are kept to a minimum even under heavy load. Adaptive cruise control is often found on this trim, allowing for a more relaxed and safer journey during long highway stretches between emirates. This sedan provides a secure cocoon for all occupants, backed by one of the most trusted names in automotive safety.

The bottom line

This is the ideal choice for a professional looking for a prestigious, high-performance sedan that won't bite back with high maintenance costs. Given its remarkably low mileage for the 2017 model year, this black-on-black IS350 is a rare find that combines modern luxury with the best resale security in the GCC market.
