Summary

This GCC-spec Mercedes-Benz GLE43 AMG offers a compelling entry point into the AMG family, balancing everyday SUV practicality with serious performance. The black-on-black color combination remains one of the most sought-after configurations in the GCC market, ensuring strong resale desirability and a timeless executive presence. With its robust all-wheel-drive system and twin-turbocharged V6, it is perfectly suited for long-distance highway drives between emirates or across borders. For a buyer seeking the prestige and power of an AMG without the higher running costs of the V8 models, this specific listing represents a versatile and well-maintained choice.

This Car vs Other 2017 GLE43 AMGs

At 174,000 km, this vehicle reflects typical long-distance highway usage common for premium SUVs in the GCC region. While global averages might suggest this is higher mileage, for a UAE-based car, it indicates a well-exercised engine frequently run at stable highway temperatures, which is often preferable to low-mileage city cars. The black exterior is a high-demand resale color in the local market, holding value better than more adventurous shades.

STANDARD vs Lower Trims

As a genuine AMG model, the GLE43 adds significant hardware upgrades over the standard GLE 400 it replaced, including a specifically tuned 9G-TRONIC transmission and an AMG-enhanced 4MATIC system with a 40:60 rear-bias split. It features standard AIRMATIC air suspension with adaptive damping and the AMG Dynamic Select system, offering a dedicated 'Sport+' mode not found on lower trims. Inside, you receive the AMG-specific performance steering wheel and upgraded braking systems designed for high-speed stability.

GLE43 AMG vs Segment Rivals

The GLE43 AMG competes directly with the BMW X5 xDrive40i and the Audi Q7 3.0 TFSI, leading the group with its 93-litre fuel tank, which provides superior range for long-distance desert highway treks. While rivals offer a more clinical driving experience, the Mercedes stands out with its more aggressive AMG-tuned exhaust note and higher standard towing capacity of 3,265 kg. Its cabin cooling efficiency is also widely regarded as one of the best in class for the harsh GCC summer.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption typically averages around 11.5L/100km in mixed GCC driving, though heavy stop-start city traffic in Dubai or Riyadh can see this increase. Mercedes-Benz maintains one of the most comprehensive authorized service networks across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait, ensuring parts availability is never an issue. The GLE43 historically retains approximately 48% of its value after five years in the GCC, performing slightly better than its V8-powered AMG siblings due to lower maintenance overheads.

Performance & Capability

The 3.0-litre biturbo engine delivers a verified 0-100 km/h time of 5.7 seconds and a top speed electronically limited to 250 km/h. Its all-wheel-drive system is tuned for on-road performance but provides ample traction for gravel tracks and sandy weekend escapes. Five distinct drive modes allow the car to transform from a comfortable highway cruiser into a sharp, responsive performance SUV at the touch of a button.

Comfort & Cabin

The five-seat cabin is designed for long-distance comfort, featuring multi-zone climate control with powerful rear cooling vents essential for the GCC climate. Premium materials, including the stitched dashboard and AMG sports seats, provide a high-end feel, while the 650-litre boot offers substantial space for family road trips. Acoustic glass helps isolate the cabin from road noise and desert wind, maintaining a quiet environment even at high cruising speeds.

Safety

Standard safety equipment on this trim includes a comprehensive airbag system, blind-spot monitoring, and lane-keeping assist, which are particularly valuable on fast-moving multi-lane highways. The 360-degree camera and Active Parking Assist help navigate tight city parking, while the AMG-enhanced braking system provides shorter stopping distances and better fade resistance during high-temperature summer driving.

The bottom line

This GLE43 AMG is the ideal choice for a professional or family seeker who demands AMG performance and GCC-spec reliability in a high-resale black finish.
