Summary

This 2017 Porsche 911 Carrera S represents the sought-after 991.2 generation, marking the successful shift to twin-turbocharging for increased torque and efficiency. With a mileage of 117,963 km, it has been driven regularly across the GCC, reflecting the durability these engines are known for when properly maintained in local conditions. The Blue exterior is a sophisticated choice that offers a distinctive alternative to the common silver or white while maintaining strong resale appeal among enthusiasts. As a Carrera S, it provides a significant performance jump over the base model, making it a highly desirable choice for the UAE’s fast-moving highways and weekend drives. This GCC-spec example ensures the cooling systems and electronics are fully optimized for the region’s extreme summer heat.

This Car vs Other 2017 911s

While many 911s of this vintage are kept as low-mileage weekend toys, this car's mileage reflects consistent use, which often prevents the mechanical seals and cooling components from drying out in the harsh GCC climate. The blue finish stands out in a market saturated with grayscale tones, offering better long-term resale potential for those seeking a unique specification. Being a GCC-spec vehicle, it avoids the insurance and service complications often found with American or European imports.

CARRERA S vs Lower Trims

The Carrera S adds 50 hp and 50 Nm of torque over the base Carrera, utilizing larger turbochargers and a reinforced drivetrain to handle the extra output. Key upgrades include Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) with a 10mm lower ride height and larger, more heat-resistant brakes that are essential for high-speed stability on the E11. You also get 20-inch wheels and quad-exhaust tips as standard, giving it a much more aggressive presence on the road.

911 vs Segment Rivals

The 911 Carrera S holds a distinct advantage over rivals like the Mercedes-AMG GT and Audi R8 due to its superior 2+2 seating practicality and legendary daily-driver ergonomics. Its twin-turbo flat-six is more fuel-efficient during highway cruises between Emirates while providing a lower center of gravity that competitors struggle to match. Furthermore, the Porsche brand carries the highest resale value retention in the sports car segment across the GCC market.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption averages approximately 8.7 L/100km on combined cycles, though city driving in heavy Dubai traffic will see this figure rise. Service intervals are recommended every 10,000 km or 12 months, with a robust network of authorized Porsche Centers and reputable independent specialists available across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait. While European sports cars generally depreciate faster than Japanese sedans, the 911 Carrera S is an outlier, retaining its value exceptionally well due to high regional demand.

Performance & Capability

With a 0–100 km/h time of just 3.9 seconds, this Carrera S offers supercar-level acceleration that is perfectly suited for the UAE's well-maintained highway network. The 7-speed PDK transmission provides lightning-fast gear changes that never interrupt the flow of power, while the rear-wheel-drive setup maintains the classic 911 steering purity. With a top speed of 308 km/h, it remains one of the fastest ways to travel long distances across the region in total mechanical confidence.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is a masterclass in driver-focused design, featuring the updated PCM infotainment system with Apple CarPlay for seamless connectivity. The air conditioning is specifically engineered to handle 50°C summer peaks, providing rapid cabin cooling that is a necessity for GCC owners. Despite its performance focus, the 2+2 seating layout provides enough space for small children or extra luggage, making it surprisingly practical for a weekend trip to Al Ain or Ras Al Khaimah.

Safety

Standard safety features include Porsche Stability Management (PSM), which is invaluable for maintaining traction on sand-blown highway surfaces. The Carrera S also features six airbags and high-performance multi-piston brakes that resist fade even in high-temperature driving. Optional driver aids like Blind Spot Monitoring and Adaptive Cruise Control are frequently found on these specs, providing extra security during long desert highway stretches.

The bottom line

For the enthusiast who wants a 911 that is ready to be driven daily, this GCC-spec Carrera S in Blue offers the perfect blend of modern turbocharged performance and iconic heritage.
