Summary

This GCC-spec sedan offers a sophisticated entry into flagship ownership, pairing the presence of the long-wheelbase chassis with a fuel-efficient turbocharged engine that suits daily Dubai or Riyadh commuting. With 95,000 km, this vehicle sits comfortably within the average mileage range for a 2018 model in the region, where long-distance highway use is typical. The Grey exterior is a highly practical choice for the GCC, maintaining its aesthetic appeal against the local dust and sun better than darker alternatives. For a buyer seeking the prestige of a flagship BMW without the high running costs of a V8, this specific trim provides the perfect balance of technology and efficiency. It remains a standout choice for those who value cabin refinement and rear-seat space for family or executive use.

This Car vs Other 2018 730Lis

At 95,000 km, this 730Li has been driven approximately 15,000 km per year, which is significantly lower than the GCC annual average of 20,000–25,000 km. This lower-than-average usage often translates to less wear on the interior leather and cooling systems, both of which are critical in the local climate. The Grey finish is a smart choice for the UAE and Saudi markets, as it historically holds better resale value than non-standard shades due to its heat-reflective properties.

EXCLUSIVE vs Lower Trims

The Exclusive trim elevates the 730Li experience by adding premium touches that GCC buyers value, such as Nappa leather upholstery and the high-fidelity Harman Kardon surround sound system. Unlike the standard base models, this trim typically features the 360-degree Surround View camera and the BMW Display Key, making tight parking in urban centers far more manageable. It also benefits from upgraded interior wood finishes and enhanced ambient lighting, creating a more bespoke cabin atmosphere.

730Li vs Segment Rivals

While rivals like the Mercedes-Benz S-Class often focus on a softer ride, the 730Li leads with a more engaging driving dynamic thanks to its Carbon Core chassis, which reduces weight and improves agility on winding roads. The 78-litre fuel tank is a major advantage for cross-border drives to Oman or Saudi Arabia, offering a highway range that often exceeds 900 km. Additionally, BMW's iDrive system is widely considered more intuitive for local drivers than the older infotainment platforms found in contemporary Lexus LS models.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for this 2.0L turbo engine typically averages between 7.5 and 8.5 L/100km in mixed GCC conditions, providing a much lower fuel bill than the larger 740i or 750i variants. Being a GCC-spec vehicle, it retains a meaningful value premium over imported American or European models, as it is fully compatible with local authorized BMW service centers across the UAE and Saudi Arabia. Owners can expect a standard depreciation rate of roughly 12-15% annually, which is competitive for the luxury sedan segment in this region.

Performance & Capability

The 255 hp TwinPower Turbo engine provides a surprising 400 Nm of torque, ensuring effortless highway overtaking and a smooth 0-100 km/h time of 6.3 seconds. The 8-speed Steptronic transmission is tuned for refinement, making stop-start traffic in downtown Dubai feel seamless. While it is a long-wheelbase executive sedan, the rear-wheel-drive setup and precise steering make it feel much smaller and more maneuverable than its rivals on the road.

Comfort & Cabin

The 'Li' designation ensures exceptional rear legroom, ideal for family trips or professional chauffeur use throughout the Emirates. The cabin is specifically insulated to handle extreme summer heat, supported by a powerful quad-zone climate control system that ensures all passengers stay cool even in 45°C weather. Features like the panoramic glass sunroof and standard sunblinds provide the privacy and light control necessary for comfortable daylight driving.

Safety

This 730Li is equipped with a comprehensive suite of safety tech, including BMW’s Active Protection system which prepares the cabin for a potential impact. Standard features for this trim include Parking Assistant Plus, Lane Departure Warning, and Blind Spot Detection, all of which are invaluable for navigating fast-moving multi-lane highways like Sheikh Zayed Road. The inclusion of multiple airbags and a reinforced carbon-fiber-intensive frame ensures top-tier occupant protection.

The bottom line

This 2018 730Li Exclusive is the ideal opportunity for a UAE-based professional looking for flagship luxury and low mileage without the typical V8 maintenance overhead.
