Ford F-150 XLT CREW CAB

Highlights

• 3,855 kg braked towing capacity
• 325 hp from a 2.7L twin-turbo V6
• 10-speed automatic transmission standard

Summary

This 8-year-old F-150 XLT represents a balanced entry into the full-size pickup market, pairing the fuel-conscious 2.7L EcoBoost engine with the versatile Crew Cab layout. As a Canadian spec model, it features a factory-calibrated odometer in kilometres, aligning perfectly with UAE road standards. The black exterior remains a top-tier choice for resale strength in the GCC, offering a professional look that holds its appeal better than niche colors. While rivals often rely on larger, thirstier engines, this F-150 utilizes twin-turbo technology to provide V8-level torque for highway overtaking while maintaining manageable running costs. It is an ideal choice for owners who need a daily-drivable truck that still possesses the frame strength for weekend desert hauling.

This Car vs Other 2018 F-150s

With 122,000 km on the odometer, this vehicle has averaged approximately 15,250 km per year, which is significantly lower than the typical 20,000–25,000 km annual average seen for pickups in the GCC. This lower-than-average usage for its age makes it a mechanically fresh option compared to many high-mileage workhorses in the local market. The black finish further enhances its value, as it remains one of the most liquid colors for resale in the UAE and Saudi Arabia.

XLT vs Lower Trims

The XLT trim provides a substantial upgrade over the base XL, replacing basic vinyl flooring with comfortable cloth upholstery and adding the SYNC infotainment system as standard. GCC buyers will appreciate the inclusion of power-adjustable mirrors and windows, alongside a leather-wrapped steering wheel and 17-inch aluminum wheels that elevate the truck's aesthetic above a standard fleet vehicle. It also features privacy glass, which is essential for managing cabin temperatures during the intense summer months.

F-150 vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the Chevrolet Silverado and RAM 1500 of the same era, the F-150 leads with its lightweight high-strength aluminum-alloy body, which improves payload capacity and prevents the body rust often seen in older steel-bodied trucks. The 10-speed transmission offers more gear ratios than the typical 6-speed or 8-speed units found in competitors, providing smoother power delivery during long highway cruises between emirates. Additionally, Ford’s flat-load rear floor in the Crew Cab offers superior interior storage space for gear that needs to stay out of the heat.

Running Costs & Resale

The 2.7L EcoBoost engine is designed to run efficiently, typically averaging 11.5 to 12.8 L/100km in mixed GCC driving conditions, though heavy stop-start traffic in cities like Dubai may see figures closer to 14 L/100km. Service intervals are recommended every 10,000 km, and Ford’s extensive authorized service network across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait ensures parts are readily available. As a Canadian spec vehicle, buyers should note that while it offers high equipment levels, its resale value typically sits 10-15% below a GCC-spec equivalent, though the lower initial purchase price often offsets this.

Performance & Capability

The standout figure is the 542 Nm of torque, which arrives early in the rev range to make towing up to 3,855 kg feel effortless. This torque-rich performance is perfectly suited for merging onto fast-moving UAE highways or navigating sandy tracks during weekend camping trips. The All-Wheel Drive system provides added confidence on loose gravel surfaces, while the 10-speed automatic ensures the engine remains in its optimal power band for both efficiency and rapid overtaking.

Comfort & Cabin

The Crew Cab (SuperCrew) configuration is the most spacious in the F-150 lineup, offering genuine adult-sized legroom in the rear that rivals luxury sedans. The powerful Ford air conditioning system is well-regarded for its ability to cool the large cabin quickly, even after being parked in direct sunlight. Multiple power points and the large center console make it a practical mobile office for professionals or a comfortable long-distance cruiser for family road trips.

Safety

This XLT trim comes standard with Ford’s AdvanceTrac with Roll Stability Control, providing vital stability on sand-swept roads or during sudden maneuvers. Safety is further bolstered by a comprehensive six-airbag system and a high-strength steel frame that earned top safety ratings for the model year. Standard features like the rearview camera and Curve Control technology assist in managing the vehicle's size in tight city parking or during high-speed highway curves.

The bottom line

For the buyer seeking a well-maintained, lower-mileage pickup that balances daily utility with serious towing capability, this black-on-black F-150 XLT is a smart, versatile choice in the current market.
