Summary

This 2020 Chevrolet Impala LT represents the final production year of a legendary American nameplate, offering a level of highway refinement and cabin volume that rivals much more expensive luxury brands. Powered by a robust 3.6L V6 as standard, it delivers smooth, effortless power ideal for long-distance commuting between emirates. The white exterior is a prime choice for the GCC, ensuring maximum heat reflection and a historically strong resale position in the local used market. With average annual mileage for its age, this sedan is mechanically well-suited for both city traffic and high-speed highway cruising. For a buyer seeking maximum interior space and a proven powertrain, this final-run Impala is a reliable and comfortable opportunity.

This Car vs Other 2020 Chevrolet Impalas

At 120,000 km, this Impala aligns perfectly with the higher annual mileage averages typical of the GCC, suggesting it has spent much of its life on well-maintained highways rather than in stressful stop-start conditions. Being a final-year model, it benefits from the discontinuation of the base four-cylinder engine, ensuring you get the more desirable V6 performance. The white paint is the most practical choice for the region, offering the best resistance to the desert sun and high demand at resale.

LT vs Lower Trims

For the 2020 model year, the LT became the effective entry point after the LS was discontinued, meaning this trim comes standard with features often missing on earlier base models. It adds significant convenience for the local climate, including dual-zone automatic climate control and remote engine start, which allows you to cool the cabin before entering. You also receive an 8-inch touchscreen with integrated smartphone connectivity and higher-quality alloy wheels compared to previous base specifications.

Impala vs Segment Rivals

The Impala leads rivals like the Toyota Avalon and Nissan Maxima in sheer cargo capacity, offering a massive 532-litre trunk that is ideal for family road trips or airport runs. Its 305 hp naturally aspirated V6 provides more immediate power than the smaller engines found in base-trim competitors like the Toyota Camry. For long-distance GCC driving, the Impala's wider footprint and soft suspension tuning offer a more composed highway ride than most mid-sized alternatives.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel economy for the 3.6L V6 is approximately 10.9 km/L, which remains efficient for a large sedan during highway travel across the UAE and KSA. Chevrolet’s extensive authorized service network, including major partners like Al Ghandi and Bin Hamoodah, ensures parts are readily available and affordable throughout the GCC. While American-spec vehicles may face different warranty considerations than GCC-spec units, the Impala remains a popular choice for independent garages, keeping long-term maintenance costs predictable.

Performance & Capability

The 3.6-litre V6 engine is the standout feature, producing 305 horsepower and 358 Nm of torque, which allows this large sedan to reach 100 km/h in roughly 7.1 seconds. This power is managed by a smooth 6-speed automatic transmission designed for comfort rather than aggressive shifts, making it perfect for overtaking on the E11 or E311 highways. The front-wheel-drive layout provides stable and predictable handling, while the hill-start assist system adds convenience in multi-level parking structures common in GCC cities.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is engineered for five adults, offering class-leading legroom that makes it a favorite for long-distance family travel. The dual-zone climate control is specifically built to handle high temperatures, while acoustic glass helps insulate the interior from heat and road noise at high speeds. With the 8-inch Chevrolet Infotainment system, passengers can easily access navigation and media, ensuring a connected experience during cross-border drives or daily commutes.

Safety

The 2020 Impala carries a 5-star overall safety rating from the NHTSA, supported by a comprehensive suite of 10 standard airbags. Key safety features include StabiliTrak electronic stability control and traction control, which are vital for maintaining grip on sandy or rain-slicked road surfaces. The robust body structure and standard rearview camera provide added confidence when navigating tight urban spaces or fast-moving highway traffic.

The bottom line

This 2020 Impala LT is the ideal choice for a buyer who prioritizes massive interior space and V6 highway performance, offering a modern, high-spec cabin in the model's most refined final production year.
