• 21-speaker Lexicon audio system standard
• Ventilated front seats standard

Summary

This 2021 Genesis G80 Prestige represents a sophisticated entry into the luxury sedan market, offering a balanced 100,000 km mileage that is perfectly average for a five-year-old vehicle in the highway-centric GCC region. The Prestige trim is highly sought after in the UAE and wider Gulf markets because it adds high-value features like soft-close doors and a premium Lexicon sound system that standard models lack. Finished in Black, this car benefits from the region's strongest resale color, ensuring it remains a liquid asset in the used market. For the GCC buyer, the combination of a 300 hp turbocharged engine and the rear-wheel-drive layout provides a refined executive commute without the heavy fuel costs of a V8. This Korean-spec model offers a higher technology load-out than many local base trims, making it a compelling alternative for those who prioritize cabin features.

This Car vs Other 2021 G80s

With 100,000 km over five years, this G80 sits right at the expected 20,000 km per year average for the GCC, indicating it has been used for typical executive commuting rather than heavy commercial service. The Black exterior is a significant advantage in the local market, as it is one of the top three colors for value retention alongside white and silver. While many G80s in the market are base trims, this Prestige variant holds its value better due to its advanced tech suite.

PRESTIGE vs Lower Trims

The Prestige trim is a major leap over the base 2.5T, most notably adding the 21-speaker Lexicon premium audio system and ventilated front seats which are essential for the UAE summer. It also introduces luxury 'theatre' features like power soft-close doors and a wireless device charger, alongside genuine leather surfaces that replace the simulated leather found in lower tiers. Buyers also benefit from the electronically controlled suspension with road preview, which uses a camera to prep the car for speed bumps.

G80 vs Segment Rivals

The G80 competes directly with the BMW 5 Series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class, where it leads on standard technology and screen real estate with its massive 14.5-inch display. Unlike its German rivals, the Genesis offers a more generous suite of standard safety features like the Blind-Spot View Monitor. Its 73-litre fuel tank provides a significant range advantage for long-distance drives between Dubai and Riyadh compared to smaller-capacity executive sedans.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 2.5T engine averages around 9.2 L/100km, making it efficient for city traffic in Abu Dhabi or Doha. As a Korean-spec vehicle, it offers high feature density at a lower entry price, though buyers should note that resale value is generally 10–15% lower than GCC-spec units due to local dealer warranty policies. Service is easily managed across the UAE and Saudi Arabia via the extensive Hyundai/Genesis network, with major intervals typically occurring every 10,000 km.

Performance & Capability

The 2.5L turbocharged 4-cylinder produces a stout 300 hp and 422 Nm of torque, enabling a smooth 0–100 km/h sprint in 6.0 seconds. This power is ideal for confident highway overtaking on the E11 or E311, where the 8-speed automatic transmission maintains low RPMs for quiet cruising. The Rear Wheel Drive setup ensures a classic luxury car feel with sharp steering response and balanced weight distribution.

Comfort & Cabin

The interior is a high-tech sanctuary featuring a 14.5-inch infotainment screen and a dedicated 3-zone climate control system to keep all five passengers cool in extreme heat. The Prestige trim includes Ergo Motion seats with air cells for posture support during long desert drives, plus acoustic glass on all doors to isolate the cabin from wind noise. Rear passengers are treated to heated seats and ample legroom, making it suitable for both family and chauffeur use.

Safety

Genesis equips this trim with a comprehensive ADAS suite, including Smart Cruise Control with Machine Learning and Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist. The 360° Surround View Monitor is standard on the Prestige, providing vital assistance when parking in tight urban spaces. Additionally, it features 10 standard airbags and Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance, which is particularly useful for the fast-moving, multi-lane traffic common across the GCC.

The bottom line

This G80 Prestige is the ideal choice for an executive seeking German-level luxury and tech-heavy features in the most desirable resale color without the European price tag. It represents a smart buy for those who value cabin comfort and premium audio for their daily GCC commute.
