Summary

This 2021 Mercedes GLS 450 4MATIC represents a premier opportunity for GCC buyers seeking a full-size luxury flagship with lower-than-average mileage for its age. Finished in timeless black, this GCC-spec example benefits from the mild-hybrid straight-six engine that balances smooth city commutes with effortless high-speed highway cruising. As the 'S-Class of SUVs,' it provides three rows of genuine comfort and a level of cabin refinement that rivals often struggle to match. With its robust regional service network and strong resale demand for well-maintained GCC units, this is a calculated and prestigious choice for large families in the region.

This Car vs Other 2021 GLS 450s

With 44,000 km on the odometer, this vehicle has been driven significantly less than the typical 60,000–75,000 km expected for a three-year-old car in the UAE market. The black exterior is the most sought-after color for resale in the GCC, ensuring it holds its value better than more niche shades. Being a GCC-spec vehicle, it avoids the warranty and cooling concerns often associated with imported American or European models.

4MATIC vs Lower Trims

The GLS 450 4MATIC comes standard with the sophisticated MBUX infotainment system and dual 12.3-inch digital displays, which are a major draw for tech-focused GCC buyers. While it serves as the entry point to the GLS range, it includes the essential AIRMATIC air suspension and 4MATIC all-wheel drive that are often costly upgrades on smaller SUV classes. This specific trim strikes the best balance between luxury features and fuel efficiency in the full-size segment.

GLS 450 vs Segment Rivals

The GLS 450 leads rivals like the BMW X7 and Lexus LX in overall cabin quietness and third-row accessibility, making it a favorite for family road trips between Emirates. Its 90-litre fuel tank is specifically advantageous for long-distance desert highway drives, offering a superior cruising range compared to many smaller-tank competitors. The Mercedes MBUX interface is widely considered more intuitive for local navigation and media needs than the systems found in the Cadillac Escalade.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption averages approximately 11.0L/100km, which is efficient for a 7-seater of this mass, especially when utilizing the 48V mild-hybrid coasting functions during GCC highway drives. Service intervals are typically set at 15,000 km or 12 months, supported by an extensive network of authorized Mercedes-Benz centers across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait. The GLS model maintains a strong resale profile, typically depreciating at a slower rate than its Italian or British luxury counterparts in the local market.

Performance & Capability

The turbocharged 3.0L inline-six delivers a verified 367 hp, allowing this large SUV to reach 100 km/h in just 6.2 seconds—perfect for confident merging onto fast-moving UAE highways. The standard AIRMATIC suspension automatically adjusts for load and speed, providing a 'magic carpet' ride quality even on uneven gravel surfaces during weekend escapes. Selectable drive modes allow the driver to prioritize efficiency for city traffic or maximum stability for cross-border journeys.

Comfort & Cabin

Configured as a true 7-seater, the cabin features high-output air conditioning and rear climate zones designed to maintain optimal temperatures even in 45°C+ summer heat. The interior is insulated with acoustic glass to ensure a whisper-quiet environment, while the ambient lighting system creates a sophisticated atmosphere for evening drives. Ample legroom in all three rows ensures that adult passengers remain comfortable during long trips from Dubai to Muscat or Riyadh.

Safety

Standard safety equipment includes a 360° camera system and Active Parking Assist, which are essential for navigating large SUVs into tight city parking spaces. It also features a suite of ADAS technologies including Blind Spot Assist and Active Brake Assist, providing crucial layers of protection on high-speed multi-lane highways. The robust 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system provides additional traction and stability during the region's occasional heavy rain and sandstorms.

The bottom line

For the GCC buyer who needs S-Class luxury for seven people, this low-mileage, GCC-spec GLS 450 is a safe, high-value investment that is ready for immediate family service.
