Summary

This 5-year-old MG RX8 offers a commanding presence on the road and remains a strong choice for family-oriented buyers in the GCC. The White exterior is highly practical for the regional climate and ensures better resale stability compared to darker tones. With its three-row configuration and genuine four-wheel-drive capability, it bridges the gap between urban crossovers and heavy-duty off-roaders. This specific unit serves as a versatile daily driver that is equally at home on a long inter-city highway cruise or a weekend family trip. For a buyer seeking the features of a premium SUV without the high maintenance overhead, this GCC-spec Luxury trim is a compelling opportunity.

This Car vs Other 2021 MG RX8s

With 150,000 km, this vehicle has been driven more than the typical 20,000–25,000 km annual average for the GCC, indicating it has likely served as a dedicated highway commuter. In this market, white is the most sought-after color for its ability to deflect heat and maintain value at resale. While the mileage is above average, these engines are designed for long-distance stability across the Emirates.

LUXURY vs Lower Trims

The Luxury trim is a significant step up from the Comfort and Standard versions, adding essential GCC comforts like ventilated front seats and a panoramic sunroof. It also features a larger 10.1-inch touchscreen with 360-degree camera views, which makes parking this large SUV in tight city spots much easier. The 20-inch alloy wheels and leather upholstery give it a premium feel that lower trims lack.

RX8 vs Segment Rivals

The RX8 competes directly with the Haval H9 and GAC GS8, leading with a larger 70-litre fuel tank that is ideal for long desert highway runs between cities like Dubai and Muscat. Its body-on-frame construction provides a more robust feeling than road-biased crossovers, offering better durability for light off-road excursions. It offers more interior volume for the price point than many Japanese equivalents in the same segment.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption averages around 11.5L/100km, which is standard for a large 7-seater SUV in GCC city traffic. Maintenance is straightforward with a broad network of authorized service centers across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman, typically requiring service every 10,000 km. While European luxury SUVs depreciate faster, this MG holds its value well as a high-demand family workhorse.

Performance & Capability

The 2.0L turbocharged engine delivers 220 hp and 360 Nm of torque, providing adequate power for highway overtaking even with a full passenger load. Its selectable four-wheel-drive system includes specific modes for sand and snow, making it capable of handling weekend trips to the dunes. The 202 mm ground clearance ensures it can navigate rougher terrain and tall speed bumps with confidence.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed for the extreme Middle Eastern summer, featuring a dual-zone climate control system with dedicated rear AC vents to keep all three rows cool. Ventilated front seats are a critical luxury in this region, preventing discomfort during the hottest months. The 7-seat layout is highly flexible, with flat-folding rear rows that significantly expand cargo space for shopping or camping gear.

Safety

Standard safety for this trim includes a full suite of six airbags and an Electronic Stability Program to manage the vehicle's height in corners. Driver aids like Lane Departure Warning and Blind Spot Monitoring are particularly helpful for multi-lane highway driving. The 360-degree camera and front/rear sensors provide full visibility, essential for a vehicle of this size.

The bottom line

This MG RX8 is a smart choice for a large family needing maximum space and modern tech on a budget, offering the best resale color and highest trim level available for the 2021 model year.
