Summary

This 2021 RAM 1500 Big Horn Crew Cab offers the perfect entry point into the premium truck market, balancing workhorse capability with daily-driver comfort. The Pentastar V6 powertrain is highly regarded for its reliability and efficiency compared to larger V8 options, making it a sensible choice for urban commuting and highway cruising. As a Big Horn trim, it benefits from chrome styling and upgraded interior tech that maintains a strong resale profile in the GCC. The American regional spec provides a high level of standard equipment often missing in base models. For a buyer seeking the modern RAM experience with manageable running costs, this configuration is a standout opportunity.

This Car vs Other 2021 1500s

With 126,089 km, this RAM has been driven approximately 31,500 km per year, which is average for a versatile pickup in a region where long-distance highway travel is the norm. The Blue exterior is a refreshing alternative to the common neutral tones and holds up well against the GCC sun with proper care. While the mileage reflects active use, these trucks are engineered for high-duty cycles, and the 3.6L engine is famous for its long-term durability when maintained correctly.

BIGHORN CREW CAB vs Lower Trims

The Big Horn trim is a significant step up from the work-focused Tradesman, replacing basic plastics and steel wheels with premium cloth upholstery, chrome exterior accents, and 18-inch aluminum wheels. Inside, it adds the vastly superior 8.4-inch Uconnect touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a massive upgrade over the base 5.0-inch system. Crew Cab models also offer significantly more rear legroom and under-seat storage than the smaller Quad Cab, making it the preferred choice for family use in the GCC.

1500 vs Segment Rivals

The RAM 1500 leads its primary rivals, the Ford F-150 and Chevrolet Silverado, specifically in ride quality thanks to its segment-exclusive link-coil rear suspension that eliminates the 'bouncy' feel of traditional leaf springs. Its cabin is widely considered the quietest and most refined in the class, providing a luxury-car feel during long drives between emirates. The Pentastar V6 engine also offers a smoother, more linear power delivery compared to some smaller turbocharged competitors, ensuring consistent performance in high-heat conditions.

Running Costs & Resale

The 3.6L V6 is the most fuel-efficient engine in the RAM 1500 lineup, averaging approximately 11.0 L/100km on the highway, though GCC city traffic will see this rise toward 14.5 L/100km. Service intervals are typically every 10,000 km or 12 months, and RAM has an extensive authorized service network across the UAE and Saudi Arabia via established distributors. While American spec vehicles may sit slightly lower in value than local GCC spec models, the Big Horn's popularity ensures it remains a liquid asset in the used market.

Performance & Capability

Delivering 305 hp and 365 Nm of torque, this RAM manages highway overtaking with ease and maintains a respectable 3,506 kg maximum towing capacity. The TorqueFlite 8-speed automatic transmission is exceptionally smooth, specifically tuned to keep the engine in its power band even when hauling. For weekend escapes, the selectable four-wheel-drive system provides the necessary traction for gravel tracks and light desert sand, making it a versatile companion for GCC outdoor enthusiasts.

Comfort & Cabin

The Crew Cab configuration provides massive interior volume, with rear legroom that rivals executive sedans, ensuring comfort for five adults. The Big Horn's cabin features acoustic glass and triple-sealed doors to isolate passengers from road noise and the intense summer heat. Multiple USB ports and a powerful air conditioning system with dedicated rear vents ensure that all passengers stay cool and connected during the long, hot summer months.

Safety

Safety is a priority with 6 standard airbags and a high-strength steel frame that earned the 2021 RAM 1500 a Top Safety Pick rating from the IIHS. Standard features include a high-resolution ParkView rear back-up camera with dynamic gridlines, Electronic Stability Control with Ready Alert Braking, and Rain Brake Support. These systems are particularly valuable on fast GCC highways where sudden stops or changes in surface grip can occur.

The bottom line

For the buyer who wants the prestige and comfort of a modern RAM without the fuel overhead of a V8, this Big Horn Crew Cab is an ideal choice for both professional and family life.
