Summary

This 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Trail Boss represents the sweet spot for GCC buyers seeking a rugged off-roader that doesn't compromise on modern technology. With 78,000 km, its mileage sits right at the expected average for a four-year-old vehicle in the region, where highway commuting is the norm. The Blue exterior provides a standout alternative to the standard white or silver while maintaining strong secondary market demand for the Trail Boss sub-brand. As a 2022 model, it features the significant interior refresh, making it feel generations ahead of older versions. For the UAE and wider GCC, the combination of a naturally aspirated V8 and factory-lifted suspension makes it a primary choice for weekend desert explorations and heavy-duty towing alike.

This Car vs Other 2022 Silverados

With 78,000 km, this Silverado has been driven approximately 26,000 km per year, which is average for the GCC market where long-distance travel between emirates and cities is typical. The Blue paint is a premium aesthetic choice that retains high appeal in the used market, especially for the off-road-focused Trail Boss trim. Being a 2022 'refreshed' model, it carries the highly desirable updated dashboard and screen layout that drastically improves its value over the early-2022 pre-refresh units.

1500 CAB/CREW TRAILBOSS Z71 vs Lower Trims

The LT Trail Boss Z71 adds significant premium features over the Custom Trail Boss, most notably the massive 13.4-inch touchscreen and 12.3-inch digital driver display. It also includes the Z71 off-road hardware as standard, featuring Rancho monotube shocks and skid plates that are often optional on lower trims. Buyers also benefit from a more refined cabin with dual-zone climate control and Google Built-in services, which are critical for comfort in the GCC summer.

Silverado vs Segment Rivals

Against the Ford F-150 Tremor and Ram 1500 Rebel, the Silverado Trail Boss stands out with its factory 2-inch lift and the proven reliability of the 5.3L EcoTec3 V8. It offers a larger standard infotainment screen than most competitors from the same year, providing better visibility for navigation across the UAE's vast highway network. The heavy-duty G80 locking rear differential is a mechanical advantage in soft sand that some rivals only replicate through electronic braking systems.

Running Costs & Resale

The 5.3L V8 is designed for durability in high-heat conditions and is compatible with widely available 95-octane petrol, averaging roughly 13.1 L/100km on combined cycles. Service intervals are managed by an Oil Life Monitoring system, typically requiring a visit to an authorized center every 10,000 km, with a massive service network available across all major GCC cities. The Trail Boss nameplate enjoys some of the highest value retention in the pickup segment, typically depreciating at a slower rate than standard work-truck trims.

Performance & Capability

The Silverado can tow up to 5,080 kg when properly equipped, making it a leader for hauling boats or car trailers. Its 5.3L V8 produces 355 hp and 519 Nm of torque, providing effortless overtaking power on 140 km/h highways like the E11. The Z71 package adds a 2-speed transfer case and specialized off-road suspension that provides superior ground clearance for navigating dunes and rocky wadis.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, the 2022 refresh introduces a driver-centric cockpit with a high-resolution 13.4-inch screen and standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Crew Cab configuration offers massive rear legroom, comfortably seating five adults for long cross-country drives. Powerful GCC-spec air conditioning with dedicated rear vents ensures the cabin remains cool even when external temperatures exceed 45°C.

Safety

This trim comes equipped with Chevy Safety Assist, including Forward Collision Alert, Automatic Emergency Braking, and Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning. These systems are particularly valuable for maintaining safety during long desert highway drives and in fast-moving urban traffic. The HD Surround Vision camera system provides a bird's-eye view, which is essential for parking a vehicle of this size in tight city spaces.

The bottom line

This Silverado is the ideal pick for an enthusiast who wants a factory-ready desert explorer with the latest digital interior. Given its average mileage and high-demand trim level, it represents a stable investment in the current GCC used truck market.
