Summary

This 2021 Toyota Hiace GL represents a rare opportunity to own a diesel-powered, all-wheel-drive passenger bus that is perfectly suited for the region's demanding commercial and private logistics. With only 69,000 km, this vehicle has covered significantly less ground than typical GCC commercial averages, making it a fresh option for fleet expansion or school transport. The white exterior is the highest-demand color for resale in the Emirates, ensuring long-term value retention and superior heat reflection during peak summer months. Unlike the base commuter models, the GL trim brings a higher level of refinement and comfort that makes long-distance travel across the borders more pleasant for all passengers. For a buyer in the GCC, the combination of Toyota's legendary reliability and a fuel-efficient diesel engine is the gold standard for low-cost, high-uptime operations.

This Car vs Other 2021 Hiaces

With just 69,000 km on the odometer, this Hiace has been driven approximately 23,000 km per year, which is remarkably low compared to the typical 40,000+ km annual usage seen in GCC transport fleets. The white paintwork is a significant advantage in the local market, as it is the most sought-after color for maintaining high resale value. Finding a modern 2.8L diesel variant with such moderate mileage is a distinct buying advantage for any professional operator.

GL vs Lower Trims

The GL trim upgrades the standard Hiace experience with features that GCC buyers value for professional passenger transport, including improved seat upholstery and a more refined dashboard layout. It offers superior cabin insulation and dedicated rear air conditioning vents for every row, which are essential for maintaining passenger comfort during the intense summer heat. These additions make the GL a preferred choice for airport transfers and executive staff transport over the more basic DX commuter models.

Hiace vs Segment Rivals

The Toyota Hiace leads the Nissan Urvan and Hyundai H1 in the GCC primarily through its extensive service network and the bulletproof reputation of its 2.8L turbo-diesel engine. While rivals may offer slightly lower initial entry prices, the Hiace provides a larger 70-liter fuel tank for extended highway range and significantly stronger value retention after three years of heavy use. Its robust chassis is specifically engineered to handle the high-speed highway runs between Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Riyadh with total stability.

Running Costs & Resale

The 2.8L diesel engine is highly efficient, typically achieving around 8.2L/100km on combined cycles, which helps offset the long distances common in GCC logistics. Service intervals are regular and predictable, supported by over 50 authorized centers across the UAE and KSA, ensuring parts are always available and downtime is minimized. Toyota vehicles in the GCC used market generally retain about 80-83% of their value after the first three years, outperforming almost every other commercial vehicle in the segment.

Performance & Capability

Equipped with a powerful 2.8L engine producing 450 Nm of torque, this Hiace offers the low-end grunt needed to move 9+ passengers and their luggage with ease. The rare All-Wheel Drive configuration provides added stability and traction on rain-slicked city highways or gravel-covered suburban tracks. With a 70-liter fuel tank, it is capable of covering over 800 km on a single fill, making it an ideal workhorse for long-distance regional commutes.

Comfort & Cabin

The interior is configured for 9+ passengers, offering ample legroom and ergonomic seating designed to withstand heavy daily use. The high-performance dual air-conditioning system features dedicated ceiling-mounted vents for every passenger row, a critical requirement for GCC operations. Additional touches like the semi-bonneted design move the engine forward, significantly reducing cabin noise and vibration compared to older flat-fronted van generations.

Safety

This Hiace GL comes equipped with a comprehensive safety suite including dual front airbags, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), and Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) to maintain composure on the road. The three-point seatbelts for all passengers and hill-start assist provide essential protection for commercial duty. Its 5-star ANCAP-based design architecture offers one of the highest safety ratings in the bus segment, providing peace of mind for school and corporate transport alike.

The bottom line

This low-mileage 2021 Hiace GL AWD is the perfect acquisition for a business or large family seeking the region's most reliable diesel transport with the added security of all-wheel drive.
