Toyota Hiace GL

Highlights

• 277 hp from a 3.5-litre V6
• Extensive GCC authorised service network
• Strong value retention in the GCC used market

Summary

This Toyota Hiace GL offers a versatile professional platform, combining a powerful 3.5L V6 engine with a durable manual gearbox. At 85,000 km, this vehicle sits well below the typical annual usage for GCC commercial vans, making it a highly reliable long-term asset. The white exterior is the region's preferred choice for heat reflection and secures the highest possible resale demand in the local market. As a GCC-spec model with a proven powertrain, it is perfectly suited for high-temperature operations and intensive daily transport across the Emirates. For any buyer needing a dependable workhorse with high power output and low relative mileage, this listing represents a strategic investment.

This Car vs Other 2021 Hiaces

With 85,000 km on the clock, this Hiace has been driven significantly less than the 25,000 km annual average typical for commercial vehicles in the GCC. While many 2021 models found in the market are reaching the 150,000 km mark, this unit offers a mechanical advantage with much lower wear on the drivetrain and suspension. The popular white paintwork further enhances its appeal, as it is the fastest-selling color in the UAE used market.

GL vs Lower Trims

The GL trim provides essential upgrades over the standard cargo variants, including body-colored bumpers and chrome grille accents that offer a more professional appearance for business use. Inside, it features improved cabin materials and front power windows, along with central locking and a multi-information display that adds convenience for the driver. These factory additions make the GL a more comfortable environment for long-distance highway hauls between emirates.

Hiace vs Segment Rivals

The Hiace leads competitors like the Nissan Urvan and Hyundai H-1 primarily through its massive parts availability and the sheer strength of the Toyota service network across all GCC countries. Its 3.5L V6 engine provides a significant power advantage over the smaller displacement engines found in rivals, ensuring better performance when fully loaded. The model's reputation for reaching extreme mileages without major failures remains the primary reason it dominates the regional transport sector.

Running Costs & Resale

Fuel consumption for the 3.5L V6 typically averages around 12.4 L/100km, which is efficient for a large-capacity naturally aspirated engine in GCC highway conditions. Toyota vehicles in the UAE benefit from some of the lowest depreciation rates in the world, often retaining over 70% of their value after three years. Service intervals are recommended every 10,000 km, with authorized centers available in almost every major city from Dubai to Muscat, ensuring minimal downtime for businesses.

Performance & Capability

The 277 hp V6 engine provides robust acceleration and effortless highway overtaking, even when carrying a full payload. Unlike smaller engines that struggle under the load of high-output air conditioning in summer, this 3.5L unit maintains consistent performance in 45°C+ temperatures. The rear-wheel-drive configuration and manual transmission offer the driver direct control and mechanical simplicity, which is highly valued for long-term durability in commercial applications.

Comfort & Cabin

The 3-seater configuration maximizes front cabin space, providing a practical layout for cargo-focused operations. The air conditioning system is specifically engineered for the GCC, featuring high-capacity cooling that quickly stabilizes cabin temperatures during the peak summer months. Excellent sound insulation helps reduce driver fatigue during long cross-country trips, while the ergonomic seat design supports extended hours behind the wheel.

Safety

Safety is prioritized with standard dual front airbags and a reinforced body structure designed to protect occupants during commercial operations. This GCC-spec GL trim includes an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), which are critical for maintaining traction on sandy or rain-slicked roads. These active systems provide an extra layer of security during fast-moving highway traffic common on the E11 and other major UAE arterial roads.

The bottom line

Perfect for businesses or fleet operators seeking a high-performance van with low mileage and the best resale profile in the GCC market.
