Summary

This 2022 Toyota Hiace GL is a prime example of the UAE’s most trusted commercial workhorse, offering a perfect balance of reliability and utility. With the vehicle age at exactly 4 years and 106,000 km, the mileage is slightly below the GCC commercial average, suggesting it has been used efficiently rather than overworked. Its white exterior remains the most desirable color for local resale, ensuring strong value retention when it comes time to upgrade. As a GCC-spec model, it is factory-equipped to handle the region's extreme summer heat with a reinforced cooling system and high-output air conditioning. For business owners seeking a durable rear-wheel-drive van with a manual gearbox for total control, this listing represents a stable, low-risk investment.

This Car vs Other 2022 Hiaces

While many commercial vans in the GCC easily exceed 30,000 km per year, this Hiace has averaged approximately 26,500 km annually, keeping it within a healthy usage bracket for a 4-year-old work vehicle. The white paint is a strategic advantage in the local market, as it reflects heat better than darker tones and is the preferred choice for corporate branding and resale. Compared to higher-mileage fleet units, this example offers a cleaner mechanical baseline for its next owner.

GL vs Lower Trims

The GL trim provides essential upgrades over the base DX models that make a significant difference during long shifts in the UAE heat. It features color-keyed bumpers and a chrome front grille for a more professional appearance, along with power windows and central locking which are often missing on entry-level cargo variants. The interior also benefits from improved fabric upholstery and additional cabin storage, offering a more comfortable environment for drivers navigating daily city traffic.

Hiace vs Segment Rivals

The Hiace leads rivals like the Nissan Urvan and Ford Transit primarily through its legendary mechanical simplicity and the sheer scale of the Toyota service network across the GCC. Its 2.7L petrol engine is specifically favored in the region for its ability to run reliably on local fuel grades with minimal maintenance overhead. Additionally, the Hiace typically commands a higher resale percentage than its competitors, making the total cost of ownership significantly lower over a three to five-year period.

Running Costs & Resale

Fuel consumption for the 2.7L petrol engine typically ranges between 9.5 and 11 L/100km depending on the payload, which is competitive for a van of this size in stop-start urban delivery cycles. Service intervals are recommended every 10,000 km at authorized Toyota centers, which are readily available from Dubai to Muscat. Toyota commercial vehicles in the GCC maintain some of the lowest depreciation rates in the market, often retaining over 65% of their value even after several years of operation.

Performance & Capability

The 164 hp 2.7L engine provides reliable torque delivery, essential for moving heavy cargo through the fast-paced multi-lane highways of the Emirates. With a verified payload capacity of 1,160 kg, this van is built to handle significant weight without compromising stability, thanks to its leaf-spring rear suspension. The 5-speed manual transmission is a preferred choice for commercial operators, offering direct control over gear ratios when fully loaded or climbing inclines.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin features a practical 3-seater layout, including a driver's seat and a two-passenger bench, all finished in durable materials designed to withstand daily wear. The air conditioning system is a high-capacity unit specifically tuned for the GCC, ensuring the cabin stays cool even when temperatures exceed 45°C. Ergonomics are prioritized with a dash-mounted gear lever to free up floor space, making it easier for drivers to move across the cabin when parked in tight urban spots.

Safety

Standard safety equipment on this GL trim includes dual front airbags and an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) to prevent skidding during emergency stops. It also features Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) and Hill-start Assist Control (HAC), which are vital for maintaining traction and preventing roll-back when the van is carrying a full payload. These active systems provide a necessary safety net for drivers operating in heavy highway traffic or on uneven job site surfaces.

The bottom line

Perfect for a growing logistics business or a corporate fleet, this GCC-spec Hiace offers the ultimate peace of mind with Toyota’s unmatched regional support and strong resale prospects.
