Summary

This 2022 crossover represents a rare opportunity to own a driver-focused Italian SUV with remarkably low mileage for the GCC market. Having covered just 37,000 km in two years, it sits well below the regional average of 20,000 km per year, ensuring the mechanical components and interior remain in peak condition. The Grey exterior is a highly sensible choice for the UAE, as it hides road dust effectively and maintains strong resale value compared to more eccentric shades. While most SUVs in this segment prioritize utility, this model stands out for its near-perfect weight distribution and sharp handling that rivals sports sedans. For a GCC buyer, the combination of All-Wheel Drive and the specific regional cooling upgrades makes this a reliable and exhilarating daily driver. This trim offers the perfect balance of performance and luxury, making it a compelling alternative to more common German rivals.

This Car vs Other 2022 Stelvios

When comparing this specific vehicle to other 2022 models currently available in the GCC, the primary advantage is the exceptionally low odometer reading. While most vehicles of this age in the region have typically surpassed the 50,000 km mark due to frequent commutes between emirates, this unit has been sparingly used. The Grey finish is considered a premium 'safe' color in the local used market, which directly translates to a faster sale and better value retention when it comes time to upgrade. As a GCC-spec vehicle, it provides the peace of mind that comes with a radiator and air conditioning system designed for 50-degree summers. You are essentially getting a vehicle that feels and drives like a much newer model, benefiting from the latest mid-cycle refreshments while avoiding the steepest part of the initial depreciation curve.

VELOCE vs Lower Trims

Choosing this specific trim grade over the entry-level options significantly upgrades the ownership experience through both aesthetics and performance. It adds a more aggressive body kit with body-colored wheel arches and a dedicated rear diffuser that sets it apart on the road. Inside, you receive the highly coveted sports leather seats with power bolsters, which provide much better support during spirited drives than the standard seats. It also includes upgraded mechanical features like a limited-slip differential which ensures better power delivery on varied surfaces. For the tech-savvy buyer, this trim comes standard with the larger infotainment interface and an enhanced suite of driver assistance features that are often optional on lower configurations. These high-end touches are exactly what local buyers look for, ensuring the car remains desirable in the secondary market.

Stelvio vs Segment Rivals

In the competitive landscape of the UAE, this model goes head-to-head with the Porsche Macan, BMW X3, and Audi Q5. It separates itself by offering a significantly more communicative steering rack and an Alfa Link suspension system that makes it the most agile car in its class. While German rivals often feel clinical, this Italian crossover brings a sense of occasion to every drive with its large aluminum paddle shifters and carbon fiber driveshaft—features usually reserved for high-end sports cars. Its 280-horsepower output provides a more engaging power-to-weight ratio than the base engines found in its competitors. Additionally, the unique styling ensures you won't be lost in a sea of identical SUVs at the mall or office parking lot. It is the choice for the buyer who values driving dynamics and distinctive design above all else.

Running Costs & Resale

Ownership costs for this vehicle in the GCC are surprisingly manageable given its premium positioning. The 2.0-liter turbocharged engine is tuned for efficiency on long highway stretches, comfortably returning around 7.0L/100km, while city driving in stop-start Sharjah or Dubai traffic averages closer to 10.5L/100km. It requires high-octane 98 Super fuel to maintain optimal performance and engine longevity in the extreme heat. In terms of service, there is a strong authorized network across the UAE and Saudi Arabia, with intervals typically set at every 10,000 km or 12 months. This model experiences a depreciation rate of approximately 15% annually in the local market, which is competitive for European luxury crossovers. Because this is a high-spec GCC model with low mileage, it is expected to hold a value premium of roughly 10% over grey-market imports or higher-mileage equivalents at the three-year mark.

Performance & Capability

The heart of this SUV is a 280-horsepower turbocharged engine that propels it from 0-100 km/h in just 5.7 seconds, a figure that beats many dedicated sports sedans. This performance is particularly noticeable when overtaking on the E11 or E311 highways, where quick bursts of speed are essential for safety. The Q4 All-Wheel Drive system is rear-biased for a sporty feel but can transfer up to 50% of torque to the front wheels instantly if it detects a loss of traction. While not designed for heavy dune bashing, the 200mm of ground clearance and intelligent traction management make it perfectly capable of handling gravel tracks, beach access, and sandy parking areas during weekend excursions. The ZF 8-speed automatic transmission is widely regarded as the best in the industry, offering lightning-fast shifts in Dynamic mode and smooth, imperceptible transitions during relaxed cruising. This versatility makes it ideal for everything from the daily school run to cross-country road trips.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is a masterclass in driver-centric design, featuring a 5-seat layout with an emphasis on high-quality tactile materials. For the GCC climate, the air conditioning system is exceptionally robust, with rear passenger vents ensuring the entire cabin cools down rapidly even after being parked in the direct sun. The sound insulation is designed to block out highway wind noise, allowing the premium audio system to provide a crisp, immersive experience during long drives. You will find ample legroom for four adults, and the 525-liter boot is more than sufficient for grocery hauls or a family's worth of luggage for a weekend staycation in Ras Al Khaimah. The panoramic sunroof is UV-tinted to allow light in without excessive heat transfer, and the leather-wrapped dashboard adds a final touch of sophistication. It feels like a boutique lounge that happens to be capable of incredible speeds.

Safety

Safety is a hallmark of this 2022 model, which carries a 5-Star Euro NCAP rating, the highest possible score. It is equipped with an Integrated Brake System (IBS) that significantly reduces stopping distances, a critical feature for high-speed motorway driving in the region. The Veloce trim includes the Active Driver Assist Package, which provides Level 2 autonomy features like Traffic Jam Assist and Highway Assist, perfect for reducing fatigue during peak hour traffic. Blind Spot Monitoring and Rear Cross-Path Detection provide an extra set of eyes when navigating busy multi-lane roads, while the Forward Collision Warning with Autonomous Emergency Braking acts as a vital fail-safe. Unlike many competitors where these features are expensive add-ons, this car includes them as standard, ensuring maximum protection for you and your passengers on every journey.

The bottom line

This is the ideal SUV for a professional or enthusiast who wants an Italian thoroughbred that can handle the practicalities of GCC life without the high mileage typically seen on the market. It offers a unique blend of low-usage reliability, high-trim luxury, and the best driving dynamics in its class, making it a standout value proposition.
