Summary

This 2022 BMW M850i xDrive Coupe offers a compelling entry into the high-performance grand touring segment, featuring a distinctive green finish that stands out in the GCC's sea of white and silver luxury cars. With 47,000 km on the odometer, this vehicle has seen moderate highway use, typical for the region, and represents a significant saving over new models while still offering modern LCI (facelift) technology. The M850i bridges the gap between everyday luxury and the aggressive M8, providing an ideal balance for long drives across the Emirates or high-speed commutes between Dubai and Abu Dhabi. As an American spec vehicle, it provides a high equipment level at a competitive entry point for the local market. For the discerning GCC buyer, this Coupe offers the prestigious V8 character and all-weather xDrive confidence that is highly sought after in the secondary luxury market.

This Car vs Other 2022 M850is

At 47,000 km, this M850i aligns with the typical GCC average of 20,000–25,000 km per year, suggesting it has been used consistently for regional travel rather than sitting idle. While most 8 Series listings feature black or white exteriors, the green paint on this example offers a unique aesthetic that can enhance resale appeal to enthusiasts looking for a standout configuration. Being the 2022 facelift (LCI) model, it features the updated infotainment hardware which is a primary differentiator for buyers in the used market.

xDrive vs Lower Trims

Stepping up to the M850i xDrive over the 840i replaces the 6-cylinder engine with a potent 4.4L V8, providing the torque necessary for effortless highway overtaking. This trim adds the Adaptive M Suspension Professional with active roll stabilization, a critical feature for maintaining composure on high-speed sweeps and cloverleaf interchanges. Furthermore, this model includes ventilated front seats and the Harman Kardon surround sound system as standard, both of which are premium essentials for the GCC climate and driving culture.

M850i vs Segment Rivals

The M850i competes directly with the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe and the Lexus LC500, leading the segment in athletic handling and daily tech integration. While the S-Class prioritizes soft cruising, the BMW offers a more engaged driving experience and a larger 12.3-inch touchscreen that feels more contemporary than older Lexus units. Its 68-litre fuel tank ensures decent range for cross-border trips to Oman or Saudi Arabia compared to more efficiency-focused hybrids.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption averages around 13.9 L/100km in stop-start city traffic like Downtown Dubai, dropping to approximately 9.6 L/100km on the open highway. BMW's authorized service network is extensive across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait, ensuring parts and technical support are readily available. As an American spec vehicle, buyers should note that local dealership warranty support may vary, but independent specialist garages across the GCC are well-versed in the G15 platform. Depreciation for high-end BMW coupes in the GCC typically follows a 12–15% annual pattern, though unique colors can help preserve value.

Performance & Capability

The standout figure is the 3.9-second 0–100 km/h sprint, enabled by the intelligent xDrive all-wheel-drive system that maximizes traction even on dusty or sandy road surfaces. With 750 Nm of torque available from low RPM, the M850i delivers immediate power for highway merges and high-speed cruising. The selectable drive modes, including Sport+, transform the car's character from a quiet executive cruiser into a focused performance machine at the touch of a button.

Comfort & Cabin

The interior is a 2+2 layout featuring Extended Merino leather and BMW’s updated 12.3-inch central display for the 2022 model year. The cabin is specifically designed for long-distance comfort, with powerful multi-zone climate control and acoustic glass that effectively insulates passengers from the intense GCC summer heat. The front seats are 14-way power-adjustable and feature ventilation, a non-negotiable luxury for maintaining comfort during July and August drives.

Safety

This M850i comes equipped with a comprehensive safety suite including Frontal Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, and Blind Spot Detection, which is essential for navigating fast-moving multi-lane highways. The Parking Assistant Plus with a 360° camera system makes maneuvering this large coupe in tight urban parking structures simple. Standard BMW Assist eCall and adaptive LED headlights provide additional peace of mind during nighttime desert highway travel.

The bottom line

For the performance enthusiast who wants a distinctive, modern V8 grand tourer without the M8 price tag, this uniquely colored 2022 M850i is the sharpest opportunity currently on the market.
