Summary

This 2022 Genesis GV70 is a sophisticated crossover that balances bold design with a premium feature set. The Prestige trim is particularly sought after for adding essential luxury comforts like ventilated seats and upgraded audio that are highly valued in the GCC climate. While this model is an American spec, it remains a compelling alternative to European rivals by offering higher standard equipment levels for a more competitive price point. The striking green exterior provides a distinctive presence on the road compared to the usual sea of white and silver SUVs. For a buyer looking for a modern, tech-heavy SUV that stands out in the city while providing enough comfort for long highway drives, this is an excellent opportunity.

This Car vs Other 2022 GV70s

With 76,000 km on the odometer, this GV70 has been driven approximately 25,000 km per year, which is perfectly in line with typical GCC highway usage where longer commutes are the norm. The unique green finish offers a more exclusive feel than the common fleet colors, helping it maintain a distinct identity in the used market. Being an American spec vehicle, it offers an accessible entry point into the Genesis brand compared to equivalent GCC-spec models.

PRESTIGE vs Lower Trims

The Prestige trim elevates the cabin experience significantly over the base Standard and Select trims by including ventilated front seats, which are a necessity for GCC summers. It also upgrades the tech and ambiance with a high-fidelity Lexicon premium audio system and a panoramic sunroof that transforms the interior feel. Additionally, the Prestige trim introduces genuine leather upholstery and more sophisticated driver-assistance systems that are often optional on lower-tier variants.

GV70 vs Segment Rivals

The GV70 competes directly with the BMW X3 and Audi Q5, standing out with its significantly more daring design and a more generous list of standard features. It offers 542 litres of cargo space, which is highly competitive for the segment and provides ample room for family airport runs or weekend shopping. The cabin materials and build quality are often cited as being a step above its rivals at this specific price range.

Running Costs & Resale

The 2.0-litre turbocharged engine is designed for efficient city and highway cruising, with parts availability supported by its shared mechanical DNA with the wider Hyundai-Genesis group. While European luxury brands often face steep 15-18% annual depreciation in the region, the GV70 has shown resilience as the brand gains more recognition in the UAE and Saudi markets. Authorized service centers are well-established in major GCC cities, ensuring professional maintenance is always within reach.

Performance & Capability

Equipped with an intelligent Four-Wheel Drive system, the GV70 provides excellent stability and traction during heavy rain or on sandy coastal roads. The 200 hp turbocharged engine is paired with a smooth 8-speed automatic transmission that is tuned for effortless highway overtaking and refined city driving. With a ground clearance of approximately 185 mm, it handles uneven surfaces and high speed bumps with the composure expected of a premium crossover.

Comfort & Cabin

The interior is a sanctuary of comfort featuring dual-zone automatic climate control and dedicated rear vents to ensure all five passengers stay cool during the peak of summer. The driver benefits from an ergonomic seat with multiple power adjustments and memory settings, while the acoustic glass helps isolate the cabin from wind noise during fast-paced highway commutes. Premium materials and a large 14.5-inch infotainment display serve as the centerpieces of the high-tech cockpit.

Safety

Safety is a hallmark of the Prestige trim, which includes a comprehensive suite of advanced driver-assistance systems such as Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist and Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance. It features eight airbags, including an innovative front-center airbag designed to prevent occupants from colliding with each other during a side impact. Standard adaptive cruise control and Lane Keeping Assist make long-distance travel across the emirates significantly safer and less fatiguing.

The bottom line

This GV70 Prestige is the ideal choice for a style-conscious professional who wants a luxury SUV with high-end features like ventilated seats without the steep European price tag.
