Summary

This 2022 Genesis GV80 Premier offers a powerful alternative to the traditional European luxury SUV segment, delivering substantial performance through its 380-horsepower twin-turbo V6 engine. With its sophisticated grey exterior—a color that holds its value well in the local market—it presents a commanding presence on the road. Despite its Korean-spec origin, the GV80’s high build quality and modern tech suite make it a compelling choice for buyers seeking premium comfort without the typical German price tag. This specific example has covered just over 100,000 km, placing it right at the threshold where its advanced mechanical systems remain peak-capable for long-distance highway cruising across the Emirates. For the buyer who values cabin refinement and distinctive styling, this GV80 stands out as a high-spec, well-maintained luxury workhorse.

This Car vs Other 2022 GV80s

With approximately 102,832 km on the odometer, this GV80 has seen average annual usage for the GCC region, where long-distance commutes between cities often result in higher mileage than global averages. The grey exterior is a highly practical choice for the local climate, offering better heat management than black while maintaining a stronger resale profile than more niche colors. In a market where many 2022 models have been pushed into higher mileage brackets, this unit remains mechanically fresh for its age.

PREMIER vs Lower Trims

The Premier trim significantly upgrades the experience over the base 2.5T models by introducing the 3.5L Twin-Turbo V6 as standard, providing the effortless power needed for high-speed highway overtaking. It adds essential GCC comfort features such as ventilated front seats and a more sophisticated multi-zone climate control system with dedicated rear vents. You also benefit from an upgraded 14.5-inch infotainment display and an enhanced ADAS safety suite that provides greater peace of mind during heavy traffic.

GV80 vs Segment Rivals

The GV80 is frequently cross-shopped with the BMW X5 and Lexus RX, where it leads in providing a more modern, tech-focused interior at a lower entry price. Its 80-litre fuel tank is ideal for cross-border drives, offering a significant highway range that rivals its European counterparts. While the Lexus focuses on efficiency, the GV80 3.5T offers a more engaging drive and superior standard equipment levels, particularly in terms of cabin materials and screen real estate.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 3.5T V6 typically ranges between 11.6 and 12.8 L/100km, which is competitive for a heavy luxury SUV in GCC stop-start traffic. As a Korean-spec vehicle, local buyers should note that while parts availability is strong due to the shared Hyundai-Kia service network, insurance and warranty support may differ from official GCC-spec cars. Genesis has shown improved value retention in the UAE, with depreciation rates now closely trailing established Japanese luxury brands.

Performance & Capability

The twin-turbocharged V6 engine delivers a verified 0–100 km/h time of 5.5 seconds, making it surprisingly agile for its size. The All-Wheel Drive system and selectable drive modes provide excellent stability on rain-slicked roads or gravel paths during weekend outings. On the highway, the 380 hp output ensures that the vehicle never feels strained, maintaining a quiet and composed cabin even at the 140 km/h speed limits common in the region.

Comfort & Cabin

The five-seat layout provides class-leading legroom and a massive boot capacity that easily accommodates family luggage or golf sets. Designed to combat the intense summer heat, the cabin features high-performance air conditioning and insulated acoustic glass to keep the interior cool and silent. The mix of natural leather and soft-touch materials creates a genuine executive environment that makes long drives between Abu Dhabi and Dubai effortless.

Safety

Safety is a hallmark of this trim, featuring a comprehensive 10-airbag system and a robust suite of active assists. Standard features include Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance, Lane Keeping Assist, and Forward Collision-Avoidance, which are particularly useful for navigating fast-moving multi-lane highways. The vehicle’s advanced stability control and high-strength steel chassis contribute to its top-tier safety reputation globally.

The bottom line

Perfect for the executive or family buyer looking for a high-performance luxury SUV that balances distinctive Korean design with a proven V6 powertrain.
