• Lexicon 21-speaker audio system standard

Summary

This Genesis GV80 Royal offers a sophisticated alternative to the German luxury establishment, blending high-end Korean craftsmanship with a powerful twin-turbocharged V6. With 67,000 km, this vehicle has been driven slightly less than the typical GCC average for its age, suggesting it has spent more time in careful use than on long cross-border hauls. The black-on-black aesthetic is a perennial favorite in the UAE market, ensuring strong resale demand and a timeless executive presence. As the top-tier Royal trim, it serves as a mobile sanctuary for families who refuse to compromise on cabin tech or passenger comfort during the intense summer heat. This is a rare opportunity to own a flagship SUV that delivers V8-like performance with far more contemporary features than its segment rivals.

This Car vs Other 2022 GV80s

At 67,000 km, this GV80 sits below the typical GCC average of 75,000 km for a three-year-old vehicle, making it a lower-wear choice for a savvy buyer. The black exterior is highly desirable in the regional used market, consistently holding its value better than louder or niche colors. While this is a Korean-spec vehicle, the hardware is identical to GCC models, though buyers should verify local service center compatibility for software-linked features.

ROYAL vs Lower Trims

The Royal trim is the definitive flagship, adding significant luxury over the Prestige and Advanced models. It features soft-close doors, a 12.3-inch 3D digital cluster, and the exceptional 21-speaker Lexicon sound system as standard. Crucially for the GCC climate, this trim includes ventilated second-row seats and power-operated rear sunshades, ensuring all passengers stay cool during the peak summer months.

GV80 vs Segment Rivals

The GV80 competes directly with the BMW X5 and Mercedes-Benz GLE, leading both in terms of standard interior technology and material quality for the price. Its 14.5-inch infotainment screen is larger and more intuitive than many rivals, while the twin-turbo V6 provides smoother power delivery than the base engines found in European competitors. The cabin's active noise cancellation also makes it one of the quietest long-distance cruisers in its class.

Running Costs & Resale

The 3.5L twin-turbo engine averages roughly 11.7 L/100km in mixed driving, though GCC city traffic will see this rise to approximately 16 L/100km. Service intervals are typically required every 10,000 km or 6 months, and Genesis has established a strong service network across the UAE and Saudi Arabia. Resale value for Genesis has stabilized significantly, following a depreciation curve similar to Lexus, as the brand's reputation for reliability grows in the region.

Performance & Capability

With 380 hp and 530 Nm of torque, the GV80 reaches 100 km/h in a verified 5.8 seconds, providing effortless overtaking power on highways like the E11. The All-Wheel Drive system is paired with Electronically Controlled Suspension that uses a front camera to 'preview' the road, adjusting damping in real-time for a cloud-like ride. While not a desert basher, the AWD system provides excellent stability on gravel tracks and during rare regional rainstorms.

Comfort & Cabin

The five-seat configuration prioritizes massive legroom and a substantial 727-liter boot, making it ideal for high-end airport runs or family staycations. The cabin is draped in Nappa leather with a microfiber suede headliner, creating an atmosphere of genuine opulence. The three-zone climate control is specifically engineered to handle high ambient temperatures, maintaining a crisp, cool environment even when parked in the sun.

Safety

Safety is a hallmark of the Royal trim, which includes a full ADAS suite featuring Blind-Spot View Monitor, 360-degree cameras, and Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist. The Highway Driving Assist II system is particularly useful for the long, straight stretches between emirates, providing semi-autonomous lane changes and adaptive cruise control. It also features a unique center airbag between the front seats to prevent passenger-to-passenger impact.

The bottom line

This GV80 Royal is the perfect match for a professional or family seeking a tech-forward luxury SUV that stands out from the common European choices while offering superior features for the GCC climate.
