Summary

This 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 SLE is a versatile choice for those needing a focused two-seater workhorse or a capable desert companion. Its white exterior is the most sought-after color in the GCC, ensuring stronger resale value and better heat reflection during peak summer months. The SLE trim strikes a professional balance, offering significant tech upgrades over the base Pro model without the price premium of the luxury-focused Denali. With a powerful V8 and all-wheel drive, it handles the UAE’s fast-moving highways and soft sand terrains with equal confidence. For a buyer in the GCC, this truck represents the ideal intersection of American power and regional practical necessity.

This Car vs Other 2022 Sierra 1500s

At approximately 72,000 km, this Sierra sits within the typical annual mileage range for a GCC-based truck, where highway commutes between emirates are standard. Unlike many high-mileage work vehicles in the market, this example maintains the preferred white paint, which remains the top choice for resale in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Choosing the regular cab configuration provides a shorter wheelbase that is notably easier to maneuver in city parking compared to the larger crew cab versions.

SLE vs Lower Trims

Moving up to the SLE trim adds essential convenience features that GCC drivers value, including a larger 13.4-inch infotainment touchscreen and a 12.3-inch digital driver information center. It also introduces cruise control and remote start as standard, allowing you to cool the cabin before entering—a vital feature during the local summer. You also benefit from upgraded 17-inch alloy wheels and a trailer hitch receiver, making it ready for weekend hauling immediately.

Sierra vs Segment Rivals

The Sierra 1500 leads rivals like the Ford F-150 and RAM 1500 with its distinctive professional styling and the widely trusted 5.3L Ecotec3 V8 engine. While competitors often prioritize turbocharging, the Sierra’s naturally aspirated V8 is highly regarded across the GCC for its long-term reliability in extreme heat. Its cabin ergonomics are specifically designed for utility, offering more intuitive physical controls that are easier to use than the touch-heavy interfaces found in some modern competitors.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 5.3L V8 averages around 11.8 L/100km on the highway, though this can rise to 15-16 L/100km in stop-start city traffic in Dubai or Riyadh. Service intervals are typically every 10,000 km, with a vast network of authorized GMC service centers available across all major GCC cities, ensuring parts are always accessible. The Sierra maintains one of the strongest residual values in the pickup segment, typically retaining nearly 60% of its value after three years in the local market.

Performance & Capability

The 5.3L V8 produces 355 hp and 519 Nm of torque, providing plenty of power for high-speed overtaking on the E11 or E311 highways. When properly equipped, this regular cab configuration can tow up to 4,082 kg, making it a serious tool for transporting boats or heavy trailers. The all-wheel-drive system provides essential traction for light desert excursions, while the automatic-locking rear differential helps maintain momentum on loose surfaces.

Comfort & Cabin

The two-seat regular cab cabin is focused and spacious, featuring dual-zone automatic climate control that is engineered to combat 45°C+ temperatures. Large digital displays modernize the interior, providing clear navigation and vehicle data even in bright sunlight. Storage is plentiful behind the seats, and the acoustic glass helps isolate the cabin from wind noise during long-distance drives across the desert.

Safety

Standard safety features include frontal collision mitigation and lane-keep assist, which are particularly helpful for maintaining safety on multi-lane GCC highways. The SLE trim also features a high-definition rearview camera with hitch guidelines to simplify trailer attachment. Stabilitrak electronic stability control comes standard, providing critical intervention during sudden maneuvers on sand-dusted or wet road surfaces.

The bottom line

This 2022 Sierra SLE is the perfect choice for a professional or enthusiast seeking a reliable V8 truck that balances modern technology with rugged capability in the GCC's preferred resale color.
