Summary

This 2022 Kia Telluride SX represents a rare opportunity to own the highest-trim version of the most awarded SUV in recent years with exceptionally low mileage for the GCC market. Having covered just 19000 km, this vehicle has barely begun its life, offering a driving experience that feels remarkably close to new. While the American specification brings a high level of interior luxury often reserved for premium marques, the Telluride itself stands out for its bold design and massive interior volume that comfortably accommodates seven adults. This specific listing is a strong buy because the SX trim includes features like ventilated second-row seats and a dual sunroof that are essential for local summer comfort. The Telluride has consistently held its value better than almost any other mid-size SUV in the region due to its massive demand and limited supply. For a buyer in the GCC, this car offers the perfect blend of family utility and high-end technology without the premium price tag of European luxury brands. It remains the segment leader for anyone prioritizing a sophisticated cabin and a smooth, V6-powered highway experience.

This Car vs Other 2022 Kia Tellurides

With only 19000 km on the odometer, this Telluride is positioned well below the typical 40,000 to 50,000 km expected for a vehicle of this age in the UAE and wider GCC. In a region where long-distance commuting between emirates is the norm, such low mileage is a significant advantage that preserves both the mechanical integrity and the interior condition. While many 2022 models on the market have been used as primary family haulers for school runs and cross-border trips, this example reflects a much lighter usage cycle. The exterior color is a unique alternative to the common white and silver fleet, offering a more bespoke aesthetic that helps it stand out in a crowded parking lot. Mechanically, the low mileage means the powertrain hasn't been subjected to the typical heat-cycling wear of high-traffic city driving, ensuring the 3.8L engine remains in peak condition for its next owner. Choosing a low-mileage 2022 model over a higher-mileage 2023 version often represents a smarter financial move, as you secure the same core technology and powertrain for a better value proposition.

SX vs Lower Trims

The SX trim is the flagship of the Telluride range, and the upgrades over the EX or S trims are immediately apparent, especially in the GCC climate. Most notably, the SX introduces the stunning 10-speaker Harman Kardon premium audio system and dual sunroofs that brighten the massive cabin. For local drivers, the addition of ventilated second-row captain's chairs is a game-changer, ensuring that passengers in the back stay as cool as those in the front during the peak of summer. You also benefit from the 360-degree Surround View Monitor and Blind-Spot View Monitor, which projects a live video feed of your blind spot directly into the digital instrument cluster—an invaluable tool for navigating multi-lane highways in Dubai or Riyadh. The SX also features upgraded LED headlights and fog lights, providing superior visibility during night drives or occasional dust storms. Inside, the Nappa leather seating and memory driver’s seat elevate the experience to a luxury level that lower trims simply cannot match, making it the only logical choice for buyers who refuse to compromise on comfort.

Telluride vs Segment Rivals

The Telluride competes directly with the Honda Pilot, Ford Explorer, and Toyota Highlander, but it consistently edges them out in terms of interior design and passenger space. While the Highlander offers hybrid efficiency, the Telluride’s 3.8L V6 provides a smoother, more linear power delivery that is better suited for high-speed highway overtaking. Compared to the Ford Explorer, the Kia offers a more intuitive infotainment system and a third row that is genuinely adult-friendly, rather than being restricted to children. Its boxy design also allows for a larger cargo aperture, making it easier to load bulkier items for weekend camping trips or family staycations. The Telluride also boasts one of the most powerful air conditioning systems in its class, a vital factor for GCC buyers that often outperforms the cooling capacity of its American and Japanese rivals. By offering a luxury-tier interior at a mainstream price point, the Telluride has redefined what buyers expect from this segment, making it the most sought-after SUV in its category.

Running Costs & Resale

Maintaining a Kia Telluride in the GCC is straightforward thanks to one of the most extensive authorized service networks in the region, with major hubs across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman. The 3.8L V6 is a tried-and-tested naturally aspirated engine, which is generally more reliable in extreme desert heat than smaller, turbocharged alternatives. Real-world fuel consumption typically averages around 11.5L/100km on the highway, though city driving in heavy traffic can see this rise to 14.5L/100km. Parts availability is excellent, and because this engine is shared across several Kia and Hyundai models, servicing is both affordable and efficient. This American spec model offers a high feature-to-price ratio, though buyers should note that resale values are strongest when the vehicle is meticulously maintained. Historically, the Telluride has shown some of the lowest depreciation rates in the SUV market, often retaining up to 80% of its value after three years due to its immense popularity. This makes it not just a comfortable family car, but a relatively safe financial asset compared to more niche luxury SUVs.

Performance & Capability

At the heart of the Telluride is a robust 295 hp 3.8L Lambda V6 engine that provides effortless cruising power. The 0-100 km/h sprint is achieved in approximately 7.5 seconds, which is impressive for a vehicle of this size and more than enough for merging into fast-moving traffic on the E11. The All-Wheel Drive system is sophisticated, featuring a 'Lock' mode that distributes torque evenly for better traction on slippery surfaces or light sandy tracks during weekend escapes. With a ground clearance of 203 mm, it handles gravel roads and uneven terrain with ease, though it remains primarily a road-focused cruiser. The 8-speed automatic transmission is tuned for smoothness, ensuring that gear changes are almost imperceptible during long-distance drives. For those with active lifestyles, the Telluride offers a towing capacity of approximately 2,270 kg, making it capable of hauling jet skis or a small boat to the coast. The drive mode selector allows you to toggle between Smart, Eco, Sport, and Comfort, tailoring the steering weight and throttle response to your specific environment.

Comfort & Cabin

The interior of the Telluride SX is often compared to vehicles twice its price, featuring a clean, horizontal dashboard layout and premium materials throughout. This 7-seater configuration utilizes second-row captain's chairs, which not only provides more individual comfort for passengers but also creates an easy walkway to the third row. In the GCC, the triple-zone climate control is a standout feature, allowing the driver, front passenger, and rear occupants to set their own temperatures with dedicated ceiling-mounted vents for every row. The cabin is exceptionally quiet, with extensive sound dampening that isolates passengers from road noise and the whistling of desert winds at high speeds. Tech-wise, the 10.25-inch touchscreen is crisp and responsive, supporting both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for seamless navigation. The SX trim also includes a head-up display, allowing you to keep your eyes on the road while monitoring speed and navigation cues. Even with all seven seats in use, there is still ample room for groceries or small bags, and folding the rear seats flat reveals a cavernous cargo area that can handle almost anything a family requires.

Safety

Safety is a hallmark of the Telluride, which has consistently earned top ratings from the NHTSA and IIHS. The SX trim comes standard with Kia’s full suite of Highway Driving Assist technologies, which combines adaptive cruise control with lane-following assist to reduce driver fatigue on long highway stretches. This is particularly useful for the straight, monotonous drives between major GCC cities. The Forward Collision-Avoidance system includes pedestrian and cyclist detection, as well as junction turning protection to prevent accidents at busy intersections. For parents, the Rear Occupant Alert and Safe Exit Assist provide peace of mind by ensuring children don't open doors into oncoming traffic and that no one is left behind in the vehicle. The 360-degree camera system makes parking this large SUV in tight mall basements a stress-free experience. With multiple airbags, including side curtains for all three rows, and a high-strength steel chassis, the Telluride provides a cocoon of safety for the entire family.

The bottom line

This 2022 Kia Telluride SX is the ideal choice for a family that wants maximum luxury and safety with the peace of mind that comes from incredibly low mileage. At 19000 km, this is one of the freshest examples on the market and offers a premium interior experience that rivals much more expensive luxury SUVs.
