Summary

This 2022 Lexus RX450h Prestige represents a highly strategic buy in the GCC market, offering the rare and desirable six-seat configuration with second-row captain chairs. Finished in Blue, a color that holds its appeal well in the region, it bridges the gap between a fuel-efficient commuter and a premium family cruiser. With 308 horsepower from its hybrid V6, it provides smooth power delivery that rivals struggle to match in terms of refinement. The hybrid system is particularly effective in the stop-start traffic of Dubai or Riyadh, significantly lowering running costs without sacrificing the long-range capability needed for inter-emirate travel. As a GCC-spec vehicle with Lexus's legendary reputation for reliability, it offers a level of peace of mind that is the primary driver of its exceptional value retention.

This Car vs Other 2022 RX450hs

With 117,630 km, this vehicle reflects typical GCC highway use, where annual averages often reach 30,000 km due to frequent long-distance commutes. This mileage is average for the 2022 model year in the local market, and the hybrid components are well-suited for the heat and high-utilization cycles typical of the Emirates. The Blue exterior is a sophisticated alternative to the common white or silver, yet it remains a stable choice for resale in the local second-hand market.

PRESTIGE vs Lower Trims

The Prestige trim is a significant step up from the base model, introducing essential GCC comforts like ventilated front seats and a power-adjustable steering wheel. It often features the upgraded 12.3-inch infotainment display and a premium 12-speaker audio system, which are high-priority items for UAE buyers. Additionally, this specific Prestige unit includes the 6-seat layout with mid-row captain chairs, a premium configuration rarely found on entry-level versions.

RX450h vs Segment Rivals

The RX450h leads rivals like the BMW X5 xDrive40i and Mercedes-Benz GLE 450 in urban fuel efficiency thanks to its self-charging hybrid system. While European competitors often require plug-in infrastructure to achieve similar economy, the Lexus delivers consistent savings in heavy city traffic. Its 65-litre fuel tank ensures over 750 km of range, making it a superior choice for long-distance desert highway drives compared to smaller-tanked rivals.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption averages approximately 5.7 to 8.1 L/100km, offering massive savings over petrol-only SUVs in GCC city driving. Service intervals are standardized at 10,000 km or 6 months through the extensive Al-Futtaim and regional Lexus networks, ensuring parts are always available across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman. Lexus hybrids famously enjoy some of the lowest depreciation rates in the GCC, typically retaining 80-85% of their value over the first three years.

Performance & Capability

The 3.5L V6 hybrid system produces a combined 308 hp, enabling a 0–100 km/h sprint in just 7.7 seconds, which is impressive for a luxury SUV of this size. The E-Four All-Wheel Drive system uses a dedicated electric motor for the rear wheels, providing instant torque that aids in highway overtaking and stability on gravel or wet surfaces. Multiple drive modes allow you to prioritize EV-only silent cruising in residential areas or sharpen throttle response for the open road.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is a six-seat sanctuary designed for the GCC climate, featuring a high-output air conditioning system and ventilated seating to combat summer heat. Acoustic glass and thick insulation ensure a whisper-quiet ride even at 140 km/h on the E11 highway. The captain chairs in the second row provide executive-level comfort for passengers, while the power-folding third row offers flexibility for larger families or extra luggage space.

Safety

This trim comes standard with the Lexus Safety System+, featuring Adaptive Cruise Control for effortless long-distance driving and Blind Spot Monitoring, which is essential for fast-moving UAE traffic. Lane Departure Alert and Pre-Collision systems provide an extra layer of protection, while a comprehensive 10-airbag system ensures maximum occupant safety. These active systems are specifically tuned to handle the high speeds and varied road conditions found across the GCC.

The bottom line

This 6-seater RX450h is the perfect match for a family looking for premium comfort and class-leading hybrid efficiency without the depreciation risks of its European peers.
