Summary

This GCC-spec SUV stands as a premier choice for families seeking a balance of luxury and genuine seven-seat utility. With 80,000 km over 4 years, it has been driven roughly 20,000 km annually, which aligns perfectly with the higher highway usage typical for GCC luxury commuters. The Grey exterior is a resilient, high-resale choice for the local market, masking desert dust while maintaining a sophisticated executive presence. Unlike smaller SUVs, this model provides a true third row and the intelligent MBUX infotainment system, making it a benchmark for long-distance regional travel. For the buyer prioritizing Mercedes-Benz refinement with the durability to handle local summer heat, this 4MATIC remains a standout opportunity.

This Car vs Other 2022 GLS450s

At 80,000 km, this vehicle sits right at the average mileage expectation for a 4-year-old executive SUV in the GCC. The Grey exterior is one of the top three resale colors in the UAE and Saudi markets, offering better value retention than bolder or non-metallic shades. Being a GCC-spec model, it features the necessary cooling and filtration systems designed for extreme desert climates, unlike imported alternatives.

4MATIC vs Lower Trims

The GLS450 4MATIC comes standard with the sophisticated MBUX digital cockpit and AIRMATIC air suspension, which are often costly upgrades on smaller models. This trim adds the EQ Boost mild-hybrid system, providing smoother stop-start transitions in heavy city traffic and extra torque for highway overtaking. GCC buyers will appreciate that this trim typically includes ventilated front seats and four-zone climate control as standard equipment.

GLS450 vs Segment Rivals

When compared to rivals like the BMW X7 or Lexus LX, the GLS leads in third-row legroom and total cargo flexibility with its power-folding seat arrangement. Its 90-litre fuel tank provides a superior cruising range for cross-emirate drives compared to many smaller-capacity competitors. The Mercedes MBUX interface is widely regarded as more intuitive for local navigation and voice-command needs than the systems found in older-generation rivals.

Running Costs & Resale

The 3.0-litre inline-six is relatively efficient for its class, averaging approximately 9.2 to 10.5 L/100km on open highways between Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Mercedes-Benz maintains one of the most comprehensive authorized service networks across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait, ensuring parts availability is never a concern. As a flagship GCC-spec SUV, it follows a predictable depreciation curve of roughly 12-15% annually, holding its value significantly better than European competitors without regional specifications.

Performance & Capability

The 362 hp powertrain blazes from 0–100 km/h in just 6.2 seconds, a remarkable figure for a vehicle of this size. The 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system and adjustable ground clearance make it capable of handling sandy weekend tracks and gravel paths with ease. On the highway, the 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission keeps the engine at low RPMs, providing a silent and composed cabin environment at cruising speeds.

Comfort & Cabin

This seven-seater is designed for family logistics in extreme heat, featuring dedicated rear cooling vents and powerful multi-zone climate control. The cabin is insulated with acoustic glass to minimize road noise and heat soak during the peak summer months. All three rows are power-adjustable, ensuring that even adult passengers in the back can travel comfortably on long trips across the region.

Safety

Safety is anchored by a comprehensive ADAS suite including Active Brake Assist, Blind Spot Assist, and the PRE-SAFE system standard on this trim. Nine airbags provide total cabin coverage, while the 360-degree camera system is invaluable for maneuvering a large SUV in tight city parking. The adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping features are specifically tuned to assist on long, high-speed desert highways.

The bottom line

For the GCC family requiring the prestige of a flagship Mercedes-Benz with the practical seating of a minivan, this GLS450 4MATIC offers the perfect balance of regional reliability and executive comfort.
