Summary

This MG HS Trophy is a standout choice in the pre-owned market, offering the highest available specification for the 2022 model year. With its 2.0-liter turbocharged engine, it provides significantly more confidence during highway overtakes compared to the common 1.5-liter variants found across the UAE. The black exterior is a highly sought-after resale color in the GCC, and at roughly 70,947 km, the mileage is well within the expected range for a four-year-old vehicle in this region. For the GCC buyer, this trim represents the perfect balance of European-inspired cabin quality and the robust cooling performance needed for local summers.

This Car vs Other 2022 MG HSs

With approximately 70,947 km on the odometer, this HS has been driven roughly 23,000 km per year, which aligns perfectly with the GCC average of 20,000–25,000 km for daily commuters. Unlike many entry-level imports, this is a genuine GCC spec vehicle, ensuring the air conditioning and cooling systems are engineered for 45°C+ temperatures. The black pearl paint remains one of the top three colors for value retention in the Dubai and Abu Dhabi used markets.

TROPHY vs Lower Trims

The Trophy trim is the range-topping flagship, adding essential GCC luxuries that the Comfort and SE trims lack. You get the upgraded 360-degree parking camera, dual-zone automatic climate control with an Air Quality Management system, and distinctive Trophy racing seats finished in Alcantara leather. Most importantly, it features the larger 2.0L turbo engine and upgraded 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, providing a more premium stance and better road handling.

HS vs Segment Rivals

The MG HS competes directly with the Hyundai Tucson and Toyota RAV4, leading the segment in interior material quality at its price point. While rivals often charge extra for advanced tech, this HS includes a 10.1-inch touchscreen and 12.3-inch digital cockpit as standard. Its 360 Nm of torque provides superior low-end pull compared to many naturally aspirated competitors, making it a better companion for the fast-paced traffic of the E11 highway.

Running Costs & Resale

The 2.0L turbo engine averages approximately 8.6 L/100km, which is efficient for a mid-size SUV during long-distance GCC commutes. MG has established one of the fastest-growing service networks in the UAE through authorized distributors like Inter Emirates Motors, ensuring parts availability and professional maintenance are easily accessible. While Chinese brands typically depreciate slightly faster than Japanese rivals, the Trophy trim holds its value better due to its high demand in the secondary market.

Performance & Capability

The 2.0L turbocharged engine delivers a punchy 231 hp and 360 Nm of torque, allowing for a verified 0-100 km/h time of 8.8 seconds. This power is managed by a 6-speed dual-clutch transmission that provides smooth shifts for city driving and a top speed of 210 km/h for the open road. Multiple drive modes, including a dedicated 'Super Sport' button on the steering wheel, sharpen throttle response for a more engaging driving experience across the Emirates.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed for long-distance comfort, featuring MG’s signature bucket-style sports seats with heating functions. The dual-zone climate control includes dedicated rear vents, which is a non-negotiable feature for family comfort during the UAE summer. Ambient lighting with customizable colors and a panoramic sunroof create a modern, airy atmosphere that rivals high-end European crossovers.

Safety

Safety is a core strength of this trim, which carries a 5-star Euro NCAP rating and features a full suite of active systems. The MG Pilot suite includes Blind Spot Detection, Lane Change Assist, and Rear Cross Traffic Alert, all of which are invaluable for navigating multi-lane highway traffic. Passive safety is equally strong, with six airbags and a high-strength steel cage construction providing peace of mind for family outings.

The bottom line

For the buyer who wants maximum features and the most powerful engine in the lineup without the premium price of a new vehicle, this GCC-spec Trophy is the smartest entry point into the MG SUV family.
