Summary

This GCC-spec Land Cruiser represents the sweet spot of the 300-series range, offering the potent twin-turbo V6 engine in the highly desirable GXR trim. With average mileage for its age in the Gulf, it remains a robust choice for families and desert enthusiasts alike. The grey exterior is a practical, high-resale choice for the region, masking dust well while maintaining strong secondary market demand. As a Toyota flagship, it offers unmatched peace of mind with the most extensive service network in the Middle East. It stands as the definitive balance of modern refinement and legendary durability for the GCC driver.

This Car vs Other 2022 Land Cruisers

At 55,800 km, this vehicle sits within the typical annual usage range for a full-size SUV in the GCC, where 20,000–25,000 km per year is common. The grey exterior is a strategic choice for local resale, offering better value retention than niche colors while staying cooler than black in summer heat. Being a GCC-spec model, it carries a significant value premium over imported variants due to its local warranty history and cooling systems optimized for 50-degree summers.

GXR vs Lower Trims

The GXR trim adds essential GCC comfort features over the base GX, including ventilated front seats and a larger 9-inch infotainment display. It also introduces superior convenience with a wireless smartphone charger and a powered tailgate, which are highly valued in the local market. For the 300-series, the GXR is often the preferred choice as it balances premium materials with the ruggedness required for weekend desert excursions.

Land Cruiser vs Segment Rivals

When compared to the Nissan Patrol, the Land Cruiser leads with its 110-litre fuel capacity, providing a superior theoretical range for long-distance cross-border drives between Emirates. Its 3.5L twin-turbo engine offers more accessible torque at lower RPMs than the naturally aspirated V8s in competitors like the Chevrolet Tahoe, aiding in both sand recovery and highway overtaking. Additionally, the Land Cruiser’s legendary resale value in the Gulf remains the benchmark for the entire SUV segment.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the twin-turbo petrol V6 averages approximately 12.1 L/100km on a combined cycle, though GCC highway cruising can see improved efficiency. Toyota's authorized service centers are available in every major city across the UAE, KSA, and Oman, ensuring parts are always accessible. This model typically sees a depreciation rate of just 8–10% annually, making it one of the safest financial assets in the regional used car market.

Performance & Capability

With 400 horsepower and 650 Nm of torque, this SUV achieves 0-100 km/h in a verified 6.7 seconds, a remarkable figure for a vehicle of this size. The 300-series platform is 100 kg lighter than its predecessor, providing noticeably sharper handling on paved roads and improved buoyancy in soft sand. It features a sophisticated Multi-Terrain Select system and a low-range transfer case, ensuring it remains the 'King of the Road' from the dunes of Liwa to the urban highways of Dubai.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is purpose-built for the Gulf climate, featuring a high-output air conditioning system with dedicated rear cooling vents for all three rows. Ventilated front seats come standard on this trim, providing essential relief during peak summer months. The seven-seat configuration is genuinely usable for families, while the acoustic glass helps maintain a quiet environment, shielding passengers from road noise during long highway commutes.

Safety

Standard safety features include a comprehensive airbag system and advanced stability control optimized for various surfaces. The GXR trim includes front and rear parking sensors and a high-definition rearview camera to assist in maneuvering this large SUV in tight urban spaces. Adaptive cruise control and lane departure alerts provide additional security during long desert highway journeys, where driver fatigue can be a factor.

The bottom line

This Land Cruiser is the ideal acquisition for a buyer seeking the ultimate GCC-proven workhorse that retains luxury and high resale value. It offers a mechanically sound, well-maintained opportunity to own the current generation 300-series at a fair market entry point.
