Summary

This 2022 Toyota Land Cruiser GXR offers a perfect balance of modern LC300 engineering and legendary 4.0L V6 reliability. With just 21,450 km, it sits well below the typical GCC annual mileage average, making it an exceptionally fresh choice for long-term ownership. The black exterior is a high-demand resale color in the region, ensuring strong value retention when it's time to upgrade. As a purpose-built 4x4, it dominates both the daily urban commute and weekend desert expeditions with equal poise. For a buyer seeking the ultimate GCC workhorse that won't compromise on cabin tech, this low-mileage GXR is the standout option.

This Car vs Other 2022 Land Cruisers

At 21,450 km, this vehicle has covered significantly less ground than the 40,000–50,000 km typically seen on three-year-old SUVs in the GCC. This low usage means less wear on the suspension and drivetrain components, providing a clear mechanical advantage. The black finish remains one of the most liquid colors for resale in the UAE and Saudi markets.

GXR vs Lower Trims

The GXR trim provides a substantial tech and comfort upgrade over the base GX, featuring 18-inch alloy wheels and an improved infotainment system. Crucially for the GCC climate, it adds enhanced multi-zone climate control and a powered driver's seat. While lower trims focus on pure utility, the GXR introduces the Multi-Terrain Select system that makes desert driving accessible for all skill levels.

Land Cruiser vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the Nissan Patrol, the Land Cruiser LC300 platform offers a more modern TNGA-F chassis that improves high-speed highway stability across the Emirates. Its 110-litre fuel capacity provides a superior range for cross-border drives compared to European luxury rivals. The Land Cruiser also maintains a significant lead in terms of specialized off-road hardware like standard Crawl Control.

Running Costs & Resale

The 4.0L V6 is renowned for its mechanical simplicity and parts availability at any authorized service center from Dubai to Muscat. Service intervals are typically every 10,000 km, with costs remaining lower than turbocharged European equivalents. Historically, the Land Cruiser holds the highest resale value in the GCC, typically retaining over 80% of its value after three years.

Performance & Capability

With 271 hp and a sophisticated four-wheel-drive system, this SUV handles steep dunes and fast-moving highway traffic with ease. The 235 mm ground clearance and 700 mm wading depth ensure it is prepared for seasonal rains and rugged wadi crossings. The Multi-Terrain Select system automatically optimizes traction for sand, rock, or dirt at the turn of a dial.

Comfort & Cabin

The seven-seat cabin is designed for large family logistics, featuring a versatile third row and high-output air conditioning built for 50°C summers. Occupants enjoy acoustic glass that isolates the cabin from desert wind noise during long highway stints. Standard features like the cooled center console box are essential for keeping refreshments cold during extended trips across the region.

Safety

This trim is equipped with a comprehensive safety suite including multiple airbags and stability control tuned for both pavement and loose sand. Features like front and rear parking sensors and a high-definition rearview camera make navigating tight urban parking easy. The robust ladder-frame construction provides a level of passive safety and durability that monocoque competitors cannot match.

The bottom line

This is a prime opportunity for a family or enthusiast to secure a low-mileage LC300 in the GCC's most desirable color and a balanced GXR spec.
