Summary

This 2023 Kia Telluride EX is an exceptional family SUV, offering a premium experience with the versatility of an eight-seat configuration and All-Wheel Drive. With mileage that aligns perfectly with GCC annual averages, this vehicle represents a reliable long-term investment for families navigating both urban school runs and cross-border road trips. The refreshed 2023 styling brings a modern, rugged aesthetic that remains highly desirable in the local pre-owned market. Known for its class-leading cabin refinement and a robust V6 powertrain, the Telluride continues to be a top choice for those prioritizing comfort and resale stability. This specific EX trim strikes the ideal balance between high-end features like ventilated leather seating and the practical value sought by regional buyers.

This Car vs Other 2023 Tellurides

With 64,807 km, this Telluride has been driven roughly 25,000 km per year, which is standard for a family vehicle in the GCC where highway commutes are routine. The 2023 model year is particularly attractive as it introduced the significant mid-cycle refresh, ensuring the vehicle looks current and holds its value better than pre-facelift versions. As a GCC-spec vehicle, it comes with the cooling and filtration systems optimized for the region's extreme heat, providing a clear advantage over imported alternatives.

EX vs Lower Trims

The EX trim provides a significant leap in comfort over the S and LX trims, most notably by adding ventilated front seats—a necessity for the GCC summer. It also introduces genuine leather upholstery and a smart power liftgate, enhancing daily convenience. While lower trims often switch to captain's chairs, this EX maintains the high-demand 8-seat layout while still offering the larger 12.3-inch panoramic display as standard.

Telluride vs Segment Rivals

The Telluride consistently outpaces rivals like the Honda Pilot and Toyota Highlander by offering a more premium interior that mimics luxury brands at a better price point. Its 3.8L V6 engine provides a smoother power delivery than the turbocharged four-cylinders found in some competitors, making it better suited for high-speed highway cruising. Furthermore, its dedicated 601 liters of boot space behind the third row is among the most generous in its class.

Running Costs & Resale

Fuel consumption for the 3.8L V6 AWD averages approximately 11.2 L/100km on the highway, a respectable figure for a large 8-seater. Kia's massive authorized service network across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman ensures parts are readily available and maintenance costs remain predictable. The Telluride currently enjoys some of the strongest value retention in the GCC SUV market, typically depreciating less than 10-12% annually, significantly better than European rivals in the same size category.

Performance & Capability

The 291-horsepower V6 engine is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission that is tuned for smooth, effortless overtaking on fast-moving UAE highways. While it excels as a road-biased family cruiser, the Active On-Demand AWD system provides essential stability during rainy winter months or when navigating gravel tracks to weekend campsites. With a maximum ground clearance of 203 mm, it handles uneven terrain with confidence, and the standard 2,268 kg (5,000 lbs) towing capacity is perfect for jet skis or small trailers.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is specifically designed for long-distance family travel, featuring a dedicated rear-seat climate zone with vents for all three rows to ensure every passenger stays cool in 45°C heat. The EX trim includes acoustic glass on the front doors to significantly reduce wind noise, creating a quiet environment for the standard 6-speaker audio system. The 60/40 split-folding rear seats are easily adjusted with one-touch controls, allowing for seamless transitions between maximum passengers and maximum cargo.

Safety

Safety is comprehensive on the 2023 Telluride, featuring 9 airbags and the full Kia Drive Wise suite as standard. This includes Forward Collision-Avoidance with Junction Turning, which is invaluable at busy city intersections, and Blind-Spot Collision Warning for safe lane changes on multi-lane motorways. Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go reduces driver fatigue during heavy Dubai or Riyadh traffic, while Lane Keeping Assist ensures the vehicle remains centered during long desert stretches.

The bottom line

For the GCC buyer seeking a modern, high-spec family SUV with the security of a regional service network and excellent resale value, this 2023 Telluride EX AWD is a premier opportunity.
