Summary

This 3-year-old Lexus LS500 Platinum offers a compelling entry into executive luxury, balancing high-performance engineering with an interior focused on rear-passenger serenity. As the highest non-hybrid trim, the Platinum package replaces standard materials with semi-aniline leather and adds advanced tech like the massive 24-inch HUD that rivals often lock behind expensive options. Its white exterior is a top-tier choice for the GCC, known for its superior heat reflection and exceptionally high resale demand in the local market. For those cross-shopping the German flagships, this LS500 stands out with its reputation for mechanical longevity and a lower long-term cost of ownership. It remains one of the most practical ways to enjoy world-class refinement on long highway commutes between the Emirates.

This Car vs Other 2023 LS500s

With 73,000 km over 3 years, this LS500 sits at a typical mileage for a well-utilized executive sedan in the GCC, where highway driving is frequent. While American spec vehicles are common, this unit's Platinum trim level and white finish provide a significant advantage in terms of luxury features and resale liquidity compared to base models. The mileage indicates a vehicle that has been used primarily for consistent travel rather than sitting idle, which is often preferable for modern turbocharged powertrains.

PLATINUM vs Lower Trims

The Platinum trim elevates the LS500 far beyond the base model by adding 28-way power-adjustable front seats with massage functions and a 23-speaker Mark Levinson Reference audio system. While lower trims settle for a standard 12-speaker setup and basic leather, the Platinum includes quilted semi-aniline leather and a 24-inch head-up display. It also features a panoramic view monitor and enhanced rear-seat climate controls, which are essential for maintaining comfort during the peak GCC summer months.

LS500 vs Segment Rivals

The LS500 is frequently compared to the Mercedes-Benz S-Class and BMW 7 Series, but it distinguishes itself through its focus on effortless reliability and intuitive cabin ergonomics. It leads rivals in ease of maintenance and features a 21.7-gallon fuel tank that is perfectly suited for long-distance desert highway travel. While the European competitors often emphasize complex digital interfaces, the Lexus focuses on tactile material quality and a hushed cabin environment that remains rattle-free for years.

Running Costs & Resale

Lexus enjoys some of the strongest value retention in the GCC used market, typically depreciating slower than its European counterparts over a three-year cycle. Fuel consumption averages approximately 11.2 L/100km combined, which is competitive for a twin-turbo V6 of this size. Service centers are widely available across all major cities in the UAE and Saudi Arabia, and parts availability is excellent due to the brand's massive regional footprint. Owners can expect routine maintenance every 10,000 km, ensuring the vehicle handles the extreme local temperatures without issue.

Performance & Capability

The 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 delivers a stout 414 hp, allowing this full-size sedan to reach 100 km/h in a swift 5.0 seconds. Paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission, the power delivery is exceptionally smooth, making highway overtaking effortless at high speeds. Rear-wheel drive dynamics offer a classic luxury feel with a tight turning circle for its size, while multiple drive modes allow the driver to prioritize either fuel efficiency or sportier throttle response. The adaptive variable suspension ensures the car glides over road imperfections, providing a stable and composed ride for all five passengers.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, the Platinum trim provides a masterclass in craftsmanship with heated and ventilated seats for both front and rear occupants. The four-zone independent climate control is specifically engineered to combat high external heat, quickly cooling the cabin even after hours in the sun. Rear passengers benefit from power sunshades and a central touchscreen armrest to manage their environment. The cabin is further refined by acoustic glass and active noise cancellation, creating a library-quiet atmosphere for the 2,400-watt Mark Levinson audio system.

Safety

Standard safety tech on this trim includes the full Lexus Safety System+ 2.5 suite, featuring Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection and All-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control. Useful for fast-moving UAE highway traffic, the Blind Spot Monitor and Lane Tracing Assist provide an extra layer of security. The 360-degree panoramic view monitor makes parking this large sedan simple, while the inclusion of 10 standard airbags ensures comprehensive protection for all occupants.

The bottom line

For the executive buyer seeking the peak of Japanese luxury, this 2023 LS500 Platinum is a smart choice that offers significantly more standard technology than its rivals at a better long-term value.
