Summary

This 2023 MG ZS COM offers a compelling entry into the crossover segment with a balance of modern tech and urban efficiency. As a 3-year-old vehicle with 88,000 km, its mileage sits slightly above the regional average for its age, yet it remains a highly relevant choice for city commuters seeking a contemporary look. The Black exterior is a perennially strong resale color in the GCC, ensuring it remains attractive to future buyers. Compared to its rivals, the ZS stands out for its generous standard tech suite and impressive fuel economy, making it an ideal workhorse for the UAE's fast-paced traffic. For GCC buyers, the extensive service network and accessible parts availability provide long-term peace of mind.

This Car vs Other 2023 MG ZSs

With 88,000 km over 3 years, this ZS has seen consistent use, likely on the UAE's well-maintained highway networks. While the mileage is higher than a weekend-only car, it reflects a vehicle that is mechanically settled and ready for daily duty. The Black paint remains a top-tier choice for resale value in the local market, holding its appeal far better than niche colors.

COM vs Lower Trims

The COM (Comfort) trim provides significant upgrades over the base STD model, most notably the larger 10.1-inch infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also adds key convenience features like a 360-degree parking camera, cruise control, and rear air conditioning vents, which are essential for maintaining comfort during the intense GCC summer months.

ZS vs Segment Rivals

The ZS competes directly with the Nissan Kicks and Hyundai Creta, leading the pack in terms of value-for-money technology. Its 448-litre boot capacity is highly competitive, offering more practical storage for family grocery runs than several of its Japanese counterparts. Additionally, the ZS features a more modern digital cabin experience at a lower price point than many European rivals in the same class.

Running Costs & Resale

Fuel efficiency is a major strength, with the 1.5L engine achieving approximately 17.3 km/L in combined GCC driving cycles. Service intervals are typically set at 10,000 km, and MG's authorized service centers are well-established across all major GCC cities including Dubai, Riyadh, and Muscat. While Chinese brands generally face higher depreciation than Japanese marques, the ZS maintains stable demand in the UAE due to its popularity as a budget-friendly family SUV.

Performance & Capability

The naturally aspirated 1.5-litre engine delivers 118 hp, providing smooth and predictable power delivery for urban environments. While not designed for sand dune bashing, its front-wheel-drive setup is perfectly calibrated for city highways and light gravel tracks common in suburban developments. The automatic transmission is tuned for efficiency, ensuring low RPMs during steady 120 km/h highway cruises across the Emirates.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, the ZS COM features a 5-seat layout with high-quality fabric upholstery designed to remain cool in desert heat. The climate control system is robust, complemented by dedicated rear vents to ensure all passengers stay comfortable. Sound insulation is respectable for the class, providing a quiet environment for the 10.1-inch display's infotainment functions during long commutes.

Safety

Safety is managed through a comprehensive suite including four airbags, electronic stability control, and a tire pressure monitoring system. The 360-degree camera is a standout feature for this trim, making tight parking maneuvers in busy urban areas significantly safer. It also includes ISOFIX child seat anchors and hill-start assist as standard equipment.

The bottom line

This MG ZS COM is the perfect match for a pragmatic UAE buyer who wants a tech-forward, fuel-efficient crossover that is still within its prime service life. It offers an excellent balance of modern features and regional suitability at a competitive market position.
