• 8.1 L/100km combined fuel consumption

Summary

This 2023 Renault Koleos PE offers a refined European driving experience built on a proven mechanical platform shared with the Nissan X-Trail, ensuring long-term reliability in the Gulf. With 67,000 km, this vehicle has been driven roughly in line with the GCC average, meaning its mechanical health is ideal for continued heavy highway use. The metallic black exterior is a perennial favorite for resale in the UAE and Saudi markets, holding its value better than more niche colors. In a segment often defined by rigid utility, the Koleos stands out with superior rear legroom and a focus on ride comfort that makes it a top-tier choice for families. For any buyer in the region, the widespread authorized service network and availability of parts make this one of the most practical ownership propositions in the mid-size SUV category.

This Car vs Other 2023 Renault Koleos PE s

At 67,000 km, this Koleos is perfectly aligned with typical GCC annual usage of 20,000 to 25,000 km, suggesting it has been used primarily for efficient highway commuting rather than stop-start city strain. The black exterior is a high-demand color in the local market, offering a significant resale advantage over lighter or non-metallic shades. Compared to others of the same year, this example presents a well-balanced opportunity where the initial steep depreciation is already absorbed.

PE vs Lower Trims

As the foundational trim, the PE provides the essential GCC-critical features including a powerful dual-zone automatic climate control system and rear AC vents as standard. It includes cruise control and steering wheel audio commands, which are often the first things buyers look for in this segment. While higher trims add leather and larger screens, the PE retains the same 2.5L engine and mechanical underpinnings, offering the core Koleos experience at a much more accessible price point.

Koleos vs Segment Rivals

The Koleos leads rivals like the Toyota RAV4 and Kia Sportage when it comes to rear passenger space, offering legroom that feels closer to a larger class of SUV. It shares its 2.5L powertrain with the Nissan X-Trail, giving it an edge in parts availability and mechanical familiarity across the GCC. Additionally, its 210 mm ground clearance is higher than many road-biased crossovers, providing extra peace of mind for weekend trips to the desert fridge or gravel paths.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption averages 8.1 L/100km on combined cycles, though GCC drivers will find it highly efficient on long-distance highway cruises between Emirates. Service intervals are typically every 10,000 km, and with one of the most extensive authorized service networks in the UAE and Saudi Arabia, maintenance is straightforward. The Koleos experiences a stable depreciation curve, typically retaining more value than smaller crossovers due to its size and Nissan-derived powertrain.

Performance & Capability

The 170 hp 2.5-litre engine is tuned for smooth, linear power delivery via a X-Tronic CVT, making it ideal for the high-speed highway traffic common in the GCC. A 0-100 km/h time of approximately 9.5 seconds ensures it has the necessary punch for overtaking on multi-lane roads. With 210 mm of ground clearance, it handles speed bumps and uneven terrain with ease, though its primary strength remains its composed and quiet highway manner.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed around passenger comfort, featuring a massive 579-litre boot that easily accommodates large strollers or full grocery runs. The PE trim features durable fabric seating that stays cooler in the extreme summer heat compared to darker leather options. Standard dual-zone climate control and dedicated rear vents ensure that all five passengers remain comfortable even when outside temperatures exceed 45°C.

Safety

Safety is a hallmark of this generation, which holds a 5-star Euro NCAP rating. This PE trim comes standard with essential safety systems including ABS with Emergency Brake Assist, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), and Hill Start Assist to prevent rolling on inclines. Multiple airbags and ISOFIX child seat anchors in the rear make it a secure choice for families navigating the fast-paced roads of the Gulf.

The bottom line

This Koleos PE is the perfect match for a value-conscious family that needs maximum cabin space and proven reliability without the premium price of a luxury badge. It represents a smart buy for those who want a modern, GCC-spec SUV that is as comfortable on a cross-country road trip as it is in the school run.
