Summary

This 2023 Changan CS35 Plus Limited represents the flagship trim of a crossover that has rapidly gained a reputation for premium features at a competitive price point. With mileage slightly above the regional average for its age, it remains a mechanically sound choice for those prioritizing modern tech like adaptive cruise control and a panoramic sunroof. The Grey exterior is one of the most practical choices for the GCC, hiding desert dust well and maintaining strong resale appeal compared to niche colors. It stands out in the subcompact segment for its punchy turbocharged performance, offering a more engaging drive than its naturally aspirated rivals. For a buyer looking for a modern daily driver in the UAE or Saudi Arabia, this Limited spec offers luxury-tier equipment without the premium maintenance costs.

This Car vs Other 2023 CS35 Pluses

At 63,208 km, this vehicle has been driven slightly more than the typical 20,000–25,000 km annual average seen in the UAE, suggesting a history of efficient highway commuting between emirates. The Grey paintwork is a strategic advantage in the local market, as neutral tones are the top performers for resale value across the GCC. While higher mileage units are common, finding the flagship Limited trim in this specific color combination ensures it remains highly liquid in the used market.

LIMITED vs Lower Trims

The Limited trim is a significant step up from the Trend and Smart variants, most notably adding a 360-degree 'Eagle Eye' camera system and a full suite of ADAS features like Forward Collision Warning. Inside, the Limited replaces basic materials with Nappa-grain leather seats and upgrades the climate system to a full automatic setup with a PM0.1 anti-bacterial filter. GCC buyers will also appreciate the inclusion of a panoramic sunroof and an electric tailgate, features often reserved for the highest spec.

CS35 Plus vs Segment Rivals

When compared to the MG ZS or the Kia Sonet, the CS35 Plus leads with its 'Blue Core' 1.4L Turbo engine which delivers a superior 260 Nm of torque for better highway overtaking. It offers a more tech-heavy cabin than the Suzuki Vitara, featuring a 10.25-inch infotainment display as standard. Its 53-litre fuel tank is also among the largest in the subcompact class, providing a longer cruising range for cross-border trips between the UAE and Oman.

Running Costs & Resale

Fuel efficiency is a strong suit, with real-world combined figures averaging around 6.65 L/100km, though stop-start traffic in cities like Dubai or Riyadh may see this rise slightly. Changan has established a robust authorized service network through major distributors like Union Motors in the UAE, with recommended service intervals typically every 10,000 km. While Chinese brands initially saw steep depreciation, the CS35 Plus has stabilized, typically retaining about 70-75% of its value after two years, performing better than many entry-level European crossovers.

Performance & Capability

The 1.4-liter turbocharged engine is the highlight here, producing 158 horsepower and a class-leading 260 Nm of torque paired with a smooth 7-speed wet Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT). While it is a road-biased front-wheel-drive SUV, its 180mm ground clearance is ample for navigating gravel tracks or uneven suburban roads. The selectable steering modes—Sport, Comfortable, and Standard—allow the driver to adjust the car's feel for high-speed highway stability or light-touch city parking.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed with the GCC climate in mind, featuring a powerful automatic AC system with dedicated rear vents to ensure all five passengers stay cool during summer. The Limited trim’s Nappa leather seats provide better durability against heat and wear compared to the fabric options in lower trims. Acoustic glass and reinforced insulation help keep the interior quiet, a noticeable benefit during long, high-speed drives on the E11 or Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road.

Safety

Safety in the Limited trim is comprehensive, featuring six airbags and a high-strength steel cage construction. Standard technology includes Electronic Stability Control (ESC 9.3) and Hill Hold Control, which are vital for safety on sandy or inclined surfaces. The inclusion of Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop/Go functionality is a major advantage for reducing driver fatigue during heavy peak-hour traffic on major GCC highways.

The bottom line

This CS35 Plus Limited is the ideal choice for a tech-savvy professional who wants flagship features and turbocharged performance without the high overheads of a traditional luxury brand. In the sought-after Grey spec, it represents a high-value opportunity in the current GCC used market.
