Summary

This GAC GS8 is a standout choice for those who want a premium, full-sized SUV experience without the typical high-entry cost of European rivals. As the top-tier GX trim, this vehicle offers a level of interior refinement and technological integration that is rarely seen in this segment, making it a sophisticated companion for both urban commuting and cross-country travel. The black exterior is highly favored in the GCC market, ensuring strong resale demand and a timeless aesthetic that commands presence on the road. With its robust all-wheel-drive system and advanced safety suite, it provides exceptional stability during the sudden rain showers or sandy conditions often encountered on Gulf highways. For a buyer looking for a 2024 model that has already navigated its steepest depreciation curve while remaining under a modern manufacture profile, this listing represents a very strategic purchase. The balance of a turbocharged 2.0L engine with a spacious seven-seat layout makes it a versatile family hauler that doesn't compromise on driver engagement. Ownership is further simplified by the growing and reliable service network for GAC across the UAE and the wider GCC region.

This Car vs Other 2024 GS8s

While many 2024 models on the used market might have lower mileage, this specific GS8 has been driven approximately 51,679 km, which is slightly above the typical 25,000 km annual average for the GCC but suggests it has been primarily used for long-distance highway cruising between Emirates. Highway mileage is often preferred by experienced buyers in the region as it results in less wear on the brakes, transmission, and suspension compared to the stop-and-start nature of heavy Dubai or Riyadh city traffic. The black exterior is a significant advantage for resale value in the local market, as it remains one of the most sought-after colors alongside white and silver. Choosing a 2024 model allows you to benefit from the latest design language and the most up-to-date infotainment software available for this generation. This car offers the perfect middle ground for a buyer who wants a nearly new vehicle with the latest aesthetic but at a price point that reflects its active initial year of service. Mechanically, these vehicles are built to handle high-mileage cycles, and this unit shows the characteristic durability that has made the model a rising star in the Middle East.

GX vs Lower Trims

Stepping up to the GX trim transforms the GS8 from a standard family SUV into a genuine luxury contender. Unlike the base trims, the GX comes equipped with the full suite of premium amenities that GCC buyers prioritize, such as ventilated front seats which are essential for maintaining comfort during the intense summer heat. You also benefit from a more sophisticated 360-degree camera system that makes parking this large SUV in tight mall spaces effortless, a feature often absent or simplified in lower specifications. The interior materials are noticeably upgraded in this trim, featuring higher-quality upholstery and ambient lighting that creates a more executive atmosphere at night. Additionally, the GX includes the advanced ADAS safety package as standard, providing a layer of semi-autonomous driving capability that provides peace of mind on long desert stretches. The inclusion of a premium sound system and a larger panoramic sunroof further distinguishes this trim, ensuring that every passenger enjoys a first-class experience regardless of the journey's length.

GS8 vs Segment Rivals

When compared to segment rivals like the Kia Telluride, Hyundai Palisade, or the Toyota Highlander, the GS8 stands out by offering a more aggressive, avant-garde design and a higher level of standard tech for a more competitive price point. While the Japanese and Korean competitors are excellent, the GS8 often leads in terms of cabin tech integration, featuring a massive central touchscreen that feels a generation ahead of its peers. The 2.0L turbocharged engine is specifically tuned to deliver 248 hp, providing a punchy and responsive feel that rivals the larger V6 engines found in some competitors while offering better efficiency during cruising. In terms of physical presence, the GS8 is often noted for its 'diamond-cut' LED headlights and bold grille, which give it a more premium look that mimics high-end European SUVs. For the GCC buyer, the GS8 also offers a very competitive air conditioning system that is specifically tested for high-ambient temperatures, a crucial factor where some global models can occasionally struggle. This model provides the luxury of a vehicle from a segment above at the running costs of a standard crossover.

Running Costs & Resale

Running a GS8 in the GCC is surprisingly economical thanks to its efficient 2.0L four-cylinder engine, which balances power with reasonable fuel consumption in both city and highway cycles. Real-world fuel economy is aided by a smooth automatic transmission that keeps RPMs low during high-speed cruising on the E11 or E311. Service intervals are typically every 10,000 km, and GAC’s authorized service centers are now well-established across major GCC cities, ensuring that parts and expert technicians are always within reach. In terms of resale, the GS8 has shown a remarkably steady depreciation curve compared to other newer entries in the market, largely due to GAC's growing reputation for reliability in the UAE and Saudi Arabia. While it may not hold value quite like a Toyota Land Cruiser, it outperforms many of its direct crossover rivals by retaining a high percentage of its value after the first two years. This GCC-spec model ensures full compatibility with local fuel grades and comes with a cooling system designed for the local climate, which is a major trust factor for the second-hand buyer. Ownership costs are further mitigated by the car's use of standard tire sizes and widely available consumables.

Performance & Capability

The heart of this SUV is a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine producing a stout 248 hp and 400 Nm of torque, allowing for confident overtaking on fast-moving GCC highways. The All-Wheel Drive (AWD) system is highly capable, providing the necessary traction for weekend trips to the beach or navigating gravel tracks in the northern emirates. With a 0-100 km/h time that is competitive for its size, the GS8 never feels sluggish, even when fully loaded with seven passengers and luggage. Multiple drive modes allow the driver to tailor the response of the engine and transmission to suit the terrain, whether it's an eco-mode for the morning commute or a sport mode for a more engaging drive. The ground clearance is generous enough to handle speed bumps and uneven desert outskirts without concern, making it a truly versatile vehicle for the varied landscapes of the Gulf. On the highway, the cabin remains remarkably quiet, a testament to the insulation work GAC has put into this flagship model. It strikes a fine balance between the ruggedness of a traditional SUV and the refined road manners of a premium sedan.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, the GS8 GX is a masterclass in space management, offering three rows of seating that can comfortably accommodate seven adults. The second-row passengers enjoy ample legroom, while the third row is easily accessible and perfect for children or short trips with adults. For the GCC climate, the high-output air conditioning system features independent controls for the rear, ensuring that every passenger stays cool even when the external temperature exceeds 45°C. The ventilated seats in the front are a standout luxury feature, providing immediate relief during the summer months. The cabin is bathed in natural light thanks to a large panoramic sunroof, which is tinted to reflect heat while providing an airy feel to the interior. Tech-wise, the massive infotainment screen serves as a hub for navigation, media, and vehicle settings, featuring a high-resolution display that remains clear even in direct sunlight. Soft-touch materials and premium stitching throughout the dashboard and door panels reinforce the feeling that you are sitting in a vehicle designed with high-end aspirations.

Safety

Safety is a paramount feature of the GX trim, which carries a 5-Star NCAP rating, providing the highest level of protection for your family. The most advanced ADAS suite is standard here, including Adaptive Cruise Control which is incredibly useful for the long, straight highways connecting the major cities of the GCC. Blind Spot Monitoring and Lane Keep Assist act as a second pair of eyes, crucial for the multi-lane traffic environments found in Dubai and Riyadh. The vehicle also features a robust array of airbags and a reinforced high-strength steel cage designed to manage impact energy effectively. For low-speed maneuvers, the high-definition 360-degree camera provides a bird's-eye view, ensuring you can see every obstacle around the vehicle's perimeter. This comprehensive safety approach ensures that whether you are navigating a school run or a cross-border road trip, the GS8 provides a secure and confident environment for all occupants.

The bottom line

This 2024 GAC GS8 GX is the ideal choice for a tech-savvy family in the GCC who wants maximum luxury and safety features without the premium price tag. Given its top-spec trim and modern 2024 engineering, this listing represents a high-value opportunity to own a flagship SUV that is perfectly adapted for the local environment.
