Summary

This 2024 MG 5 Comfort offers a modern, tech-focused driving experience at a competitive price point for the GCC market. With relatively low mileage for its age and the highly popular white exterior for better heat reflection and resale value, it is a smart choice for daily commuting. The Comfort trim significantly upgrades the cabin experience over the base model, adding essential tech like a rearview camera and smartphone integration. It stands out in the compact sedan segment by offering class-leading luggage capacity and impressive fuel efficiency for city driving. This vehicle represents a well-maintained, late-model opportunity for buyers prioritizing low running costs and contemporary features.

This Car vs Other 2024 MG 5s

With 67,814 km, this vehicle sits slightly above the typical annual average for a one-year-old car in the GCC, but its condition remains a strong selling point for a 2024 model. The white exterior is the most sought-after color in the region, ensuring better thermal management in summer and faster resale than darker alternatives. Choosing a 2024 model ensures you are benefiting from the latest refinements in the current generation's production cycle.

COMFORT vs Lower Trims

The Comfort trim adds significant value over the base Standard trim, most notably replacing the basic audio panel with an 8-inch touchscreen featuring Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Drivers also benefit from a leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel, push-button start, and a 3.5-inch digital instrument display. Key safety additions for this trim include rear parking sensors and a high-definition rearview camera, which are essential for navigating tight city parking in the UAE.

MG 5 vs Segment Rivals

The MG 5 competes primarily with the Toyota Yaris and Nissan Sunny, leading the segment with a massive 512-litre boot that rivals cars in the class above. While rivals focus on basic utility, the MG 5 provides a more sophisticated interior layout and better standard tech integration at a lower price point. Its slightly wider wheelbase compared to traditional B-segment sedans offers noticeably better shoulder room for three rear passengers.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption averages around 6.4 L/100km, making it one of the most economical petrol sedans for long highway commutes between emirates. Service intervals are typically every 10,000 km, and MG's authorized network has expanded rapidly across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman, ensuring easy access to parts. While European brands face steeper depreciation, the MG 5 holds value well among budget-conscious buyers, typically retaining a strong percentage of its value over the first three years.

Performance & Capability

The 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine produces 118 hp and 150 Nm of torque, paired with a smooth CVT designed for efficiency rather than raw speed. It reaches a top speed of 180 km/h and handles highway cruising with stable, predictable steering. The front-wheel-drive setup is tuned for urban comfort, utilizing speed-sensitive steering that feels light during parking maneuvers and firms up for confidence on the E11 or E311 highways.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed for GCC summers with a powerful air conditioning system and a clean, ergonomic dashboard layout that reduces clutter. Five passengers can travel comfortably with supportive fabric seating and ample legroom thanks to the 2.68m wheelbase. Modern touches like dual USB ports and the 'Inkalink' media system ensure all occupants remain connected during long road trips across the region.

Safety

Standard safety features on the Comfort trim include two front airbags, an Electronic Stability Program (ESP), and a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) which is vital for high-temperature highway driving. It also features Curve Brake Control (CBC) and Brake Assist to help maintain stability during emergency maneuvers. The inclusion of rear ISOFIX anchors and three-point seatbelts for all rear passengers makes it a secure choice for small families.

The bottom line

Perfect for the budget-conscious professional or small family, this MG 5 Comfort provides modern connectivity and massive cargo space with the peace of mind that comes from a 2024 GCC-spec vehicle.
