Summary

This 2024 Peugeot 408 GT represents a distinctive choice in the GCC market, blending the sleek lines of a fastback with a slightly raised crossover stance. With just 41,182 km on the clock, this two-year-old vehicle sits at a very healthy mileage for the region, where average annual driving often exceeds 20,000 km. The GT trim is the highest specification available, adding key technology like the reconfigurable 3D i-Cockpit that genuinely sets it apart from more traditional hatchbacks and SUVs. Finished in Obsession Blue—the model's launch hero color—this car offers strong visual appeal and maintains a premium presence on the road. For a buyer looking to move away from the standard sedan or SUV choices, this 408 provides French flair with the peace of mind of a regional GCC specification.

This Car vs Other 2024 408s

With 41,182 km, this vehicle is tracking slightly below the average 40,000–50,000 km typically expected for a two-year-old car in the GCC. The Obsession Blue exterior is the most recognizable color for this generation and remains a popular choice that aids in visibility and resale interest. Being the GT trim, it holds a significantly higher equipment level than the base models often found in rental or fleet rotations.

GT vs Lower Trims

The GT trim is a substantial step up from the Allure, most notably adding the 3D digital instrument cluster and a heated GT-branded steering wheel. It also features a hands-free motorized tailgate and a higher-resolution 360-degree camera system, which are essential conveniences for navigating tight mall parking in Dubai or Riyadh. The interior is further distinguished by Alcantara upholstery and customized i-Toggles for quicker access to climate and media controls.

408 vs Segment Rivals

The 408 GT competes with premium crossovers and fastbacks like the Cupra Formentor and the Mazda CX-30. It leads the segment in wheelbase length at 2.79 meters, providing superior rear legroom for family trips across the Emirates. Its 536-litre boot is also significantly larger than most compact crossovers, making it a more practical choice for airport runs or weekend getaways.

Running Costs & Resale

The 1.6-litre turbo engine is highly efficient for its class, achieving approximately 15.7 km/L (6.4L/100km) in combined GCC driving conditions. Peugeot has established a solid service network through authorized distributors like Swaidan Trading in the UAE and Almajdouie in Saudi Arabia, with standard service intervals every 20,000 km or 12 months. While European cars typically depreciate faster than Japanese rivals in this market, the unique positioning of the 408 helps it retain roughly 70-75% of its value after three years.

Performance & Capability

The GCC-spec 408 GT produces a punchy 215 hp and 300 Nm of torque, allowing for a 0–100 km/h sprint in 8.8 seconds and a top speed of 220 km/h. The 8-speed automatic transmission is tuned for smooth highway cruising, making long desert stretches between cities effortless and quiet. Despite its sporty silhouette, the slightly raised ground clearance provides better protection against high speed bumps and uneven road surfaces common in some urban areas.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is centered around the PEUGEOT i-Cockpit, featuring a compact steering wheel that enhances visibility of the 10-inch 3D digital display. For the GCC climate, the dual-zone air conditioning is powerful, and the GT trim includes customizable ambient lighting to enhance the premium feel during night drives. The seats are ergonomically designed for long-distance comfort, ensuring that 500-km road trips feel far less fatiguing.

Safety

Safety is a priority with a full ADAS suite including Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go, Active Emergency Braking, and Lane Keeping Assist as standard. The 360-degree camera and rear cross-traffic alert are particularly useful in busy GCC traffic environments. Additionally, the car is equipped with six airbags and earned high marks in international safety testing, ensuring top-tier protection for all five occupants.

The bottom line

For the buyer who wants the styling of a premium coupe with the utility of a family car, this well-maintained 408 GT is the perfect alternative to the common SUV. Its GCC-spec reliability and low-mileage status make it a smart, style-forward investment in the current market.
