Summary

This 2024 Toyota Hilux SGLX is a premier choice for buyers seeking the perfect balance between a rugged workhorse and a comfortable daily driver. As a GCC-spec model, it features an upgraded cooling system and air conditioning specifically engineered to handle the region's extreme summer heat. The white exterior is the most sought-after color in the Emirates and Saudi Arabia, offering superior heat reflection and the strongest resale potential in the used market. With its automatic transmission and mid-high SGLX trim, this vehicle offers a significantly more refined cabin experience than base fleet versions. It stands out as a reliable long-term investment due to Toyota's unmatched parts availability and service support across all GCC territories.

This Car vs Other 2024 Hiluxs

With 132,000 km over two years, this Hilux has been utilized primarily for long-distance highway travel, which is common for professional use in the GCC. While the mileage is higher than the average family car, these engines are engineered for high-duty cycles and 200,000+ km lifespans. The white paint remains the gold standard for resale in the region, ensuring it holds its value better than darker alternatives.

SGLX vs Lower Trims

The SGLX trim offers a significant step up from the base GL and GLX models, adding 18-inch alloy wheels and a more premium interior finish. Inside, you benefit from a high-resolution 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with a rearview camera and parking sensors. It also includes key convenience features like rear AC vents and ventilated front seats that are often missing on lower work-focused trims.

Hilux vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the Mitsubishi L200 and Isuzu D-Max, the Hilux leads with its superior resale value and the most extensive service network in the Middle East. While the Ford Ranger offers more tech, the Hilux’s 80-litre fuel tank and naturally aspirated 2.7L engine provide better long-term reliability for remote desert work and cross-border drives. Its cabin cooling performance is widely regarded as the benchmark for the GCC climate.

Running Costs & Resale

The 2.7L petrol engine is designed for durability and is compatible with widely available 91-octane fuel. Real-world consumption averages around 10.5-11.0 L/100km, performing efficiently on open highways between emirates. With service intervals every 10,000 km, maintenance is straightforward and affordable thanks to the massive availability of genuine parts. Historically, the Hilux SGLX retains approximately 80-85% of its value after three years in the GCC market.

Performance & Capability

The 2.7L four-cylinder engine produces a reliable 164 hp and 245 Nm of torque, optimized for consistent performance rather than outright speed. It is paired with a smooth 6-speed automatic transmission that makes city traffic in Dubai or Riyadh much more manageable. The body-on-frame construction ensures it can handle a payload of over 1,000 kg while maintaining a ground clearance of approximately 280 mm for off-road excursions.

Comfort & Cabin

The SGLX cabin is designed for five occupants, featuring durable fabric upholstery and red accents that provide a modern feel. The air conditioning system is a standout, featuring dedicated rear vents to ensure all passengers stay cool during the peak of summer. Large door pockets and a cooled glovebox add practical convenience for long-distance desert road trips.

Safety

This Hilux comes equipped with a comprehensive safety suite including front airbags, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), and Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) to maintain traction on sandy or wet surfaces. It also features Hill-Start Assist Control (HAC) and a Tire Pressure Warning System, providing essential peace of mind during heavy loading or off-road use. The inclusion of a rear-view camera and front/rear sensors significantly aids visibility in tight urban parking environments.

The bottom line

For the professional or weekend adventurer, this GCC-spec Hilux SGLX offers the ultimate combination of Toyota reliability and modern comfort. It is a strategic purchase for anyone who values the highest possible resale security and a vehicle that is mechanically optimized for the Middle East's harshest conditions.
