Summary

This 2025 Changan CS55 Plus STD arrives as a compelling option for those seeking a modern crossover with negligible wear. The Gold exterior is a distinguished choice that maintains a strong presence in the GCC market, and since this is a 2025 model year, it benefits from the latest design refinements and interior tech. In a segment often defined by basic equipment, the CS55 Plus stands out by offering a high-output turbocharged engine and a sophisticated digital cockpit as standard. For a GCC buyer, this represents an opportunity to own a near-new vehicle that balances urban agility with the power needed for highway commuting between the Emirates.

This Car vs Other 2025 CS55 Pluses

As a 2025 model year, this vehicle represents the cutting edge of Changan's compact SUV lineup, featuring the latest 'Blue Core' powertrain refinements. In the GCC market, a 2025 model with minimal mileage is a significant advantage, offering the peace of mind of a new car without the initial showroom depreciation. The Gold finish provides a unique alternative to the common white and silver fleet, offering better heat reflection than darker tones while ensuring good resale visibility.

STD vs Lower Trims

The STD trim in the 2025 lineup provides a significant technology leap over the base versions by including a high-definition 360° camera system, which is essential for navigating tight parking spots in Dubai and Riyadh. It also upgrades the cabin experience with a larger digital infotainment interface and enhanced seat materials. Unlike entry-level crossovers, the CS55 Plus STD retains the full-power 1.5T engine, ensuring you don't sacrifice performance for value.

CS55 Plus vs Segment Rivals

The CS55 Plus competes directly with the MG ZS and GAC GS3 Emzoom, where it leads with a more sophisticated multi-link rear suspension that provides superior ride comfort on uneven surfaces compared to the torsion beams found in many rivals. Its 1.5-liter turbo produces higher torque than most naturally aspirated competitors in this price bracket, making highway overtaking much safer. Additionally, the cabin insulation is specifically designed to handle the high-ambient noise and heat typical of GCC driving.

Running Costs & Resale

Fuel efficiency is a strong suit, with a manufacturer-estimated combined consumption of approximately 6.9 L/100km, which is highly competitive for a turbocharged SUV in GCC stop-start traffic. Changan has established a robust authorized service network across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait, ensuring parts are readily available and affordable. While European crossovers in this segment often face steep depreciation, the CS55 Plus has shown steady value retention in the regional used market as the brand's reputation for reliability grows.

Performance & Capability

The 1.5-liter turbocharged engine delivers 178 hp and 300 Nm of torque, providing plenty of punch for quick merges onto fast-moving GCC highways. The 7-speed wet dual-clutch transmission is tuned for smoothness, avoiding the jerkiness often found in dry-clutch systems during heavy summer traffic. With a ground clearance of approximately 171 mm, it easily handles high speed bumps and gravel access roads common near residential developments.

Comfort & Cabin

The interior is centered around a 5-seat layout that offers generous legroom for rear passengers, making it a viable family vehicle for long road trips. The air conditioning system is engineered for extreme climates, featuring dedicated rear vents and a PM0.1 air filter to keep the cabin cool and dust-free during sandstorm season. A 475-litre boot provides ample space for groceries or weekend luggage, expanding significantly with the rear seats folded.

Safety

Standard safety features on the STD trim include a comprehensive airbag system, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), and Traction Control to maintain grip on sandy or wet road surfaces. The inclusion of a 360° panoramic camera system provides a virtual bird's-eye view, significantly reducing blind spots in heavy city traffic. Anti-lock brakes with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) come standard, ensuring stable stopping power even when the vehicle is fully loaded.

The bottom line

Perfect for the young professional or small family who wants a 2025-spec SUV with premium tech and turbocharged performance at a significantly more accessible price point than traditional Japanese rivals.
