Summary

This Geely Starray is a compelling modern choice for GCC drivers looking for a blend of futuristic tech and robust performance. With 41,288 km on the clock, it sits comfortably within the expected mileage for a 2025 model in a region where high-speed highway commuting is daily routine. The unique green finish stands out in a market dominated by white and silver, offering a fresh aesthetic while maintaining the practicality of a mid-sized SUV. As a GCC-spec vehicle, it is built to handle the intense local heat with a cooling system and air conditioning tuned for the desert climate. This model offers a premium feel that rivals established European crossovers at a significantly more accessible entry point.

This Car vs Other 2025 Starrays

With 41,288 km, this Starray aligns with typical GCC usage patterns of 20,000 to 25,000 km per year, suggesting it has been used primarily for long-distance highway travel between emirates. The green exterior is a rare and premium color choice in the local market, potentially aiding resale to buyers seeking a distinctive look. Compared to higher-mileage examples, this vehicle retains a mechanical freshness ideal for a long-term ownership cycle.

GL vs Lower Trims

As the foundational GL trim for the 2.0T engine, this car still provides high-end features like the 13.2-inch vertical touchscreen and Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip found in higher variants. While it avoids the added complexity of the 20-inch wheels found on the GF trim, the GL offers a more cushioned ride quality better suited for uneven road surfaces. It maintains the same 218 hp output as more expensive trims, ensuring you get maximum performance without the premium price tag.

Starray vs Segment Rivals

The Starray competes directly with the Kia Sportage and Hyundai Tucson, leading both in terms of standard infotainment screen size and futuristic interior design. Its 2.0-litre turbocharged engine offers a punchier response for highway overtaking compared to the naturally aspirated alternatives often found in its Korean rivals. Additionally, the Starray’s class-leading 650-litre boot capacity provides significantly more utility for GCC family road trips.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for this 2.0T engine averages approximately 6.7 to 8.3 L/100km, which is efficient for a turbocharged SUV during long highway drives across the UAE. Geely has a rapidly expanding authorized service network through major distributors in the GCC, ensuring parts availability and professional maintenance from Dubai to Riyadh. Chinese brands are showing improved value retention in the local market, typically depreciating around 12–15% annually, similar to its Korean competitors.

Performance & Capability

The 2.0-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder engine produces 218 hp and 325 Nm of torque, enabling an 8.2-second sprint to 100 km/h. This power is managed by a 7-speed wet dual-clutch transmission that provides smooth transitions, essential for stop-start traffic in cities like Dubai or Doha. The front-wheel-drive layout and MacPherson strut suspension are tuned for on-road comfort, offering a stable and quiet ride during high-speed cruising on the E11.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, the Starray features a 5-seat configuration with generous rear legroom reaching up to 910mm, ensuring adult comfort on long drives. The dual-zone climate control and dedicated rear vents are crucial for maintaining cabin temperatures during the harsh GCC summer months. The tech-heavy cabin is anchored by a high-definition 13.2-inch tablet-style screen that controls most vehicle functions, creating a clean, button-free environment.

Safety

This trim comes equipped with a comprehensive safety suite including multiple airbags and Electronic Stability Control, which is vital for maintaining traction on sandy highway shoulders. Standard features such as the 360-degree camera system and parking sensors make navigating tight mall parking lots effortless. The high-strength steel safety cage provides a solid foundation, ensuring peace of mind for family-oriented buyers.

The bottom line

For the tech-savvy buyer who values engine performance and a standout aesthetic, this GCC-spec Starray represents a smart, modern alternative to traditional SUVs.
