Summary

This 2025 MG 5 Standard is a modern, high-value commuter that excels in the GCC’s urban environments. Finished in white, the region's preferred choice for heat reflection and resale stability, this sedan offers a sharp aesthetic that rivals established Japanese competitors. The fuel-efficient 1.5-litre engine is perfectly suited for daily city driving and long-distance highway cruises between emirates. With its generous boot space and contemporary features, it represents a practical and stylish entry into a nearly new vehicle at a significant value advantage over its peers. It is an ideal choice for first-time buyers or families seeking reliability and low running costs in the UAE.

This Car vs Other 2025 MG 5s

With 59,440 km on the odometer, this vehicle has seen active use, typical for a year-one commuter in the highway-heavy GCC environment. While the mileage is higher than a weekend-only car, it reflects consistent mechanical operation, which is often preferred over cars that sit idle in the heat. The white exterior is the strongest resale color in the UAE market, ensuring it remains highly liquid when it comes time to trade up.

STANDARD vs Lower Trims

As the base trim for the MG 5 range, the Standard focuses on essential reliability and value while retaining key features that GCC buyers value. It includes power windows, electric mirrors, and a modern infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard. Unlike lower-tier economy cars in this segment, it maintains a premium feel with a 512-litre boot that outperforms many vehicles in the class above.

MG 5 vs Segment Rivals

The MG 5 is frequently cross-shopped with the Nissan Sunny and Toyota Yaris. It leads the segment in terms of boot capacity, offering 512 litres of storage that surpasses both rivals, making it superior for airport runs and family shopping. Additionally, its European-inspired design language provides a more modern aesthetic than the more conservative styling of its Japanese counterparts.

Running Costs & Resale

Fuel efficiency is a primary strength, with a verified consumption rate of 6.1 L/100km, allowing for over 700 km of range from its 45-litre tank. Maintenance is straightforward across the GCC, with authorized service centers widely available in the UAE and Saudi Arabia. MG's popularity in the region has stabilized depreciation, with a typical retention rate of approximately 65-67% after three years, making it a predictable investment for budget-conscious owners.

Performance & Capability

The 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine produces 108 HP and 140 Nm of torque, delivered through a smooth CVT transmission that features an 8-step simulation for a more natural driving feel. It reaches a top speed of 180 km/h, providing ample headroom for highway cruising. The front-wheel-drive platform is tuned for comfort and stability, handling the stop-start traffic of Dubai or Riyadh with ease while maintaining excellent efficiency.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, the MG 5 offers a surprisingly spacious cabin for a compact sedan, comfortably seating five adults. The air conditioning system is specifically engineered for the Middle Eastern climate, featuring rear ventilation ducts that ensure all passengers stay cool during peak summer. The trunk’s low loading lip and 512-litre volume make it one of the most practical interiors for daily GCC life.

Safety

Standard safety equipment includes an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), and Cornering Brake Control (CBC) to maintain stability during sudden maneuvers. The vehicle is built on a high-strength steel cage and includes essential airbags, providing a solid safety foundation that meets the demands of fast-moving GCC highways.

The bottom line

This MG 5 is the perfect match for a pragmatic UAE buyer who wants a 2025 model year vehicle with class-leading boot space and low fuel costs without the premium price tag of a brand-new car.
