Summary

This MG 5 Comfort offers an ideal entry point for GCC commuters seeking modern tech without the premium price tag. With a white exterior—the most practical choice for thermal efficiency in the intense local heat—and low mileage relative to typical UAE annual driving, it represents a high-value opportunity. While rivals focus on performance, this sedan prioritizes daily usability and incredible fuel economy, making it a standout for minimizing monthly overheads. The GCC specification ensures full compatibility with regional authorized service networks, a critical factor for long-term peace of mind in the UAE and beyond.

This Car vs Other 2025 MG 5s

At 27,000 km, this vehicle sits comfortably below the typical GCC annual average of 30,000+ km for commuter sedans, indicating less highway wear. The white paint is not only the most popular for heat deflection in the UAE summer but also ensures the strongest possible resale demand in the local market. Compared to high-mileage fleet examples, this privately-used unit maintains better interior preservation and mechanical integrity.

COMFORT vs Lower Trims

The Comfort trim provides a significant upgrade over the Standard model by introducing 16-inch alloy wheels and a more sophisticated dual-tone black and beige interior that feels significantly airier in the sunlight. It also adds crucial tech such as a high-definition reversing camera and cruise control, features that are essentially mandatory for long, multi-lane highway drives between Emirates.

MG 5 vs Segment Rivals

The MG 5 leads rivals like the Mitsubishi Attrage and Nissan Sunny by offering a substantially larger 512-litre boot, accommodating family groceries or airport luggage with ease. Its 2680 mm wheelbase provides superior rear legroom compared to most B-segment competitors, while the infotainment suite with Apple CarPlay offers a more modern user experience than traditional segment leaders.

Running Costs & Resale

Fuel efficiency is a primary strength, with real-world GCC consumption averaging between 5.9 and 6.4 L/100km, allowing for over 700 km of range on a single 45-litre tank. MG has rapidly expanded its authorized service network across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman, with standard service intervals every 10,000 km. While Japanese brands hold value slightly better, the MG 5 shows strong 3-year retention due to its low entry price and high equipment levels.

Performance & Capability

The 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine produces 114 hp, paired with a CVT designed for smooth, step-less acceleration in stop-start city traffic. It manages the 0-100 km/h sprint in approximately 11.5 seconds, providing adequate power for urban overtaking and maintaining steady highway speeds. The light electronic power steering makes it exceptionally easy to park in tight Dubai or Riyadh shopping mall spaces.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is tailored for the GCC climate, featuring a powerful air conditioning system with dedicated rear air vents to ensure all five passengers stay cool during peak summer. The dual-tone faux-leather seats in this trim offer a more premium tactile feel than base fabric models while remaining easy to clean. Acoustic insulation is surprisingly good for the segment, keeping road noise at bay during long desert highway hauls.

Safety

Safety is managed by a suite of active systems including Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and Cornering Brake Control, which are vital for maintaining traction on sandy road shoulders. This trim includes four airbags, a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) to alert you of heat-related pressure changes, and ISOFIX points for secure child seat installation. The inclusion of a 360-degree camera on this trim level is a rare and welcome safety addition for this price point.

The bottom line

Perfect for the value-conscious professional or small family, this MG 5 combines the best resale color with below-average mileage, making it one of the most sensible used sedan purchases currently available in the GCC.
