Summary

This 2025 Seres 5 Comfortline represents a smart entry into the premium range-extended hybrid segment, offering the efficiency of an EV with the long-distance security of a petrol engine. As a one-year-old vehicle in the GCC, it provides a modern alternative to traditional SUVs, especially for those looking to bypass range anxiety during inter-emirate drives. The Sea Blue exterior is a sophisticated choice that maintains strong appeal in the local used market compared to standard fleet colors. Positioned to compete with high-tech crossovers, it stands out with its Silicon Valley-inspired design and a comprehensive tech suite that usually requires expensive upgrades in European rivals. For a GCC buyer, the balance of a fuel-efficient 1.5L range extender and a high-torque electric motor makes it perfectly suited for both heavy Dubai traffic and open highway cruising.

This Car vs Other 2025 Seres 5s

With only one year of service, this Seres 5 likely shows significantly lower mileage than the typical 25,000 km annual average seen in the GCC. While many examples in the market are fully electric, this hybrid version offers a distinct advantage for regional buyers who frequently travel between major cities like Dubai, Abu Dhabi, or Muscat without needing to plan for charging stops.

COMFORTLINE vs Lower Trims

The Comfortline trim serves as the well-equipped entry point, yet it standardizes premium features that GCC buyers value, such as leather upholstery and a high-resolution 15.6-inch infotainment display. It includes essential regional tech like the 360-degree camera system and front parking sensors, which are often omitted on base-spec imports from other regions.

Seres 5 vs Segment Rivals

The Seres 5 competes directly with the Tesla Model Y and the BYD Song Plus, leading the former in total driving range thanks to its 1,175 km combined WLTP capability. Compared to European luxury crossovers like the BMW X3, the Seres offers a more advanced digital cockpit and a larger suite of standard safety tech for a significantly more competitive ownership cost.

Running Costs & Resale

The hybrid powertrain significantly reduces fuel consumption in stop-start traffic in cities like Riyadh or Dubai, utilizing electric power for low-speed maneuvers. Authorized service centers are expanding across the UAE and Saudi Arabia, providing specialized support for the range-extender technology. As a new entrant to the market, it maintains a unique value proposition, though typical Chinese premium models in the GCC see a depreciation rate slightly higher than Japanese stalwarts, often offset by the lower initial purchase price.

Performance & Capability

Delivering 280 hp and 354 Nm of torque, this Rear Wheel Drive crossover offers linear acceleration that feels more like a pure EV than a traditional hybrid. It handles the high-speed highway environment comfortably, with the 1.5L engine acting primarily as a generator to keep the battery topped up during long desert stretches. While road-biased, its 180 mm ground clearance is more than sufficient for navigating gravel tracks and sandy parking areas common at weekend beach spots.

Comfort & Cabin

The interior is centered around a massive 2K-resolution touchscreen that controls almost all vehicle functions, creating a clean, minimalist aesthetic. For the intense GCC summer, the cabin is equipped with a powerful dual-zone climate control system and dedicated rear vents to ensure all five passengers stay cool. High-quality materials and acoustic glass help isolate the cabin from the wind noise typically experienced at 120 km/h on regional highways.

Safety

Standard safety equipment on the Comfortline includes a full suite of airbags and an advanced driver assistance system featuring lane departure warning and automatic emergency braking. The 360-degree camera is particularly useful for maneuvering the wide SUV body into tight city parking spaces, while the stability control system is tuned to maintain composure on the occasional rain-slicked or sand-covered roads found across the Emirates.

The bottom line

For the tech-focused buyer wanting to transition toward electric driving without sacrificing the ability to take long road trips, this 2025 Seres 5 Comfortline is a highly capable and stylish GCC-spec choice.
