Summary

The Yangwang U8 represents the current peak of Chinese new-energy vehicle engineering, offering a unique plug-in hybrid system where the 2.0L engine acts purely as a generator for four independent electric motors. With nearly new mileage for a 2025 model, this black SUV offers a massive presence in the GCC, blending supercar-tier acceleration with a sophisticated hydraulic body control system. It stands out from traditional luxury rivals by offering extreme capabilities like 'tank turns' and emergency floating, making it a high-tech alternative to the established German and Japanese icons. For a buyer in the Emirates or Saudi Arabia, the range-extender setup is ideal, providing the smooth drive of an EV without the charging anxiety during long cross-country highway hauls.

This Car vs Other 2025 Yangwang U8s

With just 3,500 km, this U8 is well below the typical GCC annual mileage of 20,000 km, essentially offering a showroom-fresh experience. The black exterior is the most sought-after color for this model in the regional used market, ensuring significantly stronger resale value compared to the brighter launch colors.

STANDARD vs Lower Trims

As the flagship entry, this trim includes the advanced DiSus-P intelligent hydraulic body control system and the quad-motor 'e4' platform as standard. It features the full interior suite including the 12.8-inch curved OLED center screen and a 22-speaker Dynaudio premium sound system that rivals the most expensive European luxury packages.

U8 vs Segment Rivals

The U8 competes directly with the Mercedes-Benz G-Class and the Range Rover, leading the segment with a massive 1,200 hp and the unique ability to perform 360-degree tank turns on high-friction surfaces. Its 75-litre fuel tank paired with a 49.05 kWh battery provides a combined range of 1,000 km, outperforming traditional V8 rivals on long-distance endurance across the GCC.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for this PHEV is remarkably low for its 3.5-tonne weight, especially in stop-start city traffic where the electric motors handle the load. Service centers for BYD’s premium brands are expanding across the UAE and KSA, and as a Chinese-spec flagship, it represents a high-technology investment with a growing enthusiast following in the region. The range-extender architecture generally sees less mechanical wear than a high-strung petrol-only equivalent, helping maintain long-term reliability.

Performance & Capability

A verified 0–100 km/h time of 3.6 seconds puts this full-size SUV in supercar territory, enabled by independent torque control for each wheel. The DiSus-P suspension allows for a 150 mm adjustment range, reaching a maximum ground clearance of 285 mm to clear the most challenging desert dunes. Beyond off-roading, the IP68-rated powertrain allows for a 1,000 mm wading depth and emergency flotation capability for up to 30 minutes.

Comfort & Cabin

The five-seat cabin is a masterclass in modern luxury, featuring Nappa leather and Sapele wood trim that stays cool even in the extreme GCC summer. Passengers benefit from a 70-inch AR head-up display and a massive 23.6-inch passenger screen, ensuring entertainment during long drives between cities. The quad-zone climate control is specifically engineered to handle high ambient temperatures, maintaining cabin chill even when external heat exceeds 45°C.

Safety

Safety is managed by the 'God's Eye' ADAS platform, utilizing three Lidars and 38 high-precision sensors to provide a 360° safety bubble. It features unique stabilization technology that can maintain vehicle control during a tire blowout at speeds up to 120 km/h. Standard features include adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, and an emergency floating mode that automatically opens the sunroof and closes windows if deep water is detected.

The bottom line

This 2025 Yangwang U8 is the perfect choice for a tech-forward buyer who wants the most powerful SUV in the region with the peace of mind of a long-range hybrid powertrain. With such low mileage and the preferred black color, it offers a rare opportunity to own a 1,200 hp flagship without the wait.
