Summary

This 2026 BAW M7 8AT Long Wheelbase (LWB) is a versatile 7-seater designed for both family logistics and business transport across the GCC. Its silver exterior is a top-tier choice for local resale, offering excellent heat reflection and long-term value retention in the UAE and Saudi markets. While many rivals in this segment still rely on dated 5 or 6-speed gearboxes, the M7 stands out with a modern 8-speed automatic transmission that ensures smoother shifts during long highway commutes. This Chinese-spec model provides a high-tech cabin environment rarely seen at this price point, making it a compelling alternative to more expensive Japanese or Korean MPVs. For GCC owners, the primary consideration is the vehicle's robust rear leaf-spring suspension, which prioritizes heavy-load stability and long-term durability in extreme regional heat.

This Car vs Other 2026 M7s

As a 2026 model, this vehicle represents the cutting edge of the BAW lineup with the updated 8AT powertrain. Compared to other M7s in the GCC market, this Long Wheelbase (LWB) variant offers a 3,200 mm wheelbase, providing significantly more interior volume than the standard short-wheelbase versions. The silver paint is the most practical choice for our climate, hiding dust from desert winds and maintaining its finish better than darker alternatives.

8AT LWB vs Lower Trims

The 8AT LWB trim is a major step up from the base manual versions, adding the refined 8-speed automatic transmission which is essential for stop-start traffic in cities like Dubai or Riyadh. Inside, this trim upgrades to the dual 10.25-inch digital screens, whereas lower trims often feature smaller analog displays. You also benefit from additional safety tech and upgraded interior materials that elevate the passenger experience for business use.

M7 vs Segment Rivals

The BAW M7 competes directly with the GAC Trumpchi M6 and the Maxus G10. It leads the GAC in terms of ground clearance at 210 mm, making it more capable of handling uneven terrain or high speed bumps common in developing areas. Its 8-speed transmission also offers a gear-ratio advantage over several rivals, providing better fuel efficiency and quieter cruising on the 140 km/h highway stretches between emirates.

Running Costs & Resale

The 2.0L engine typically delivers a combined fuel consumption of approximately 10.1 L/100km, which is efficient for a large 7-seater MPV. It is compatible with 92-octane petrol, ensuring low running costs at the pump. While BAW's network is growing, parts are readily available through established Chinese car distributors in the UAE and Saudi Arabia. Depreciation for the M7 is slightly higher than Japanese rivals, typically around 15% in the first year, but the low initial purchase price offers a strong value-for-money proposition.

Performance & Capability

Powered by a 144 hp 2.0L engine and a 200 Nm torque output, the M7 is tuned for steady, reliable progress rather than speed, with a manufacturer-stated top speed of 140 km/h. Its Rear Wheel Drive (RWD) configuration and 870 kg payload capacity make it a true workhorse, capable of hauling seven adults and their luggage with ease. The 210 mm ground clearance is particularly useful for weekend trips where you might encounter graded sand tracks or gravel roads.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin features a premium 2+2+3 seating layout with second-row seats that allow for easy access to the third row. A dedicated rear air conditioning system with roof-mounted vents is standard, a vital feature for maintaining passenger comfort during the intense GCC summer months. The dual-screen cockpit provides modern connectivity, while the long wheelbase ensures that even third-row passengers enjoy adequate legroom on cross-country journeys.

Safety

Standard safety features on this trim include ABS with EBD, electronic stability control (ESP), and a 360-degree camera system to assist with parking such a large vehicle. It also includes tire pressure monitoring (TPMS), which is crucial for safety during long highway drives in high ambient temperatures. Unlike some basic vans, the M7 uses four-wheel disc brakes for more consistent stopping power when fully loaded.

The bottom line

Perfect for a growing family or a small business needing an executive shuttle, this 2026 M7 offers modern tech and a refined automatic gearbox at a fraction of the cost of its rivals. It is a smart, budget-conscious choice for those who prioritize space and high-tech cabin features.
