Summary

This Changan SUV offers a compelling blend of contemporary technology and punchy performance that rivals more expensive European crossovers. With its Grey exterior—a highly resilient color for maintaining resale value in the GCC—and zero-km status, it represents a fresh entry into the market for a fraction of the cost of its Japanese counterparts. The 1.5-litre turbocharged engine is specifically tuned for responsive city driving while maintaining efficiency during inter-emirate highway cruises. For buyers seeking a modern family vehicle with a high-tech cabin and robust factory warranty support, this model is a standout choice in the current market.

This Car vs Other 2026 X5 Pluses

As a brand-new 2026 model, this vehicle features the latest Blue Whale engine updates and the refreshed 30-inch triple-screen cockpit. While many listings in the market are for the base naturally aspirated versions, this unit features the high-output turbocharged powertrain, offering a significantly more refined driving experience for GCC highways. The Grey paintwork is not only practical for hiding desert dust but is also one of the most sought-after colors for regional resale.

BEYOND PRO vs Lower Trims

The Beyond Pro trim is a significant step up from the base models, adding a sophisticated 540° panoramic camera system with a transparent chassis view—ideal for navigating tight parking spots or avoiding high curbs. It also introduces the full L2 intelligent driving suite, including Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Keep Assist, which are often absent on entry-level trims. Inside, you benefit from upgraded sports seats with electric adjustment and a premium Sony 6-speaker audio system.

X5 Plus vs Segment Rivals

The X5 Plus leads rivals like the Haval H6 and GAC GS3 in pure acceleration, reaching 100 km/h in just 7.51 seconds. Its 2,715mm wheelbase is one of the longest in the compact SUV segment, resulting in superior rear legroom for family use. Furthermore, the integrated triple-screen digital dashboard offers a more futuristic tech interface than the traditional dual-screen setups found in its immediate competitors.

Running Costs & Resale

Equipped with the Blue Whale 1.5T engine, this SUV achieves a combined fuel consumption of approximately 6.95 L/100km, making it very economical for daily commutes in stop-start traffic. Changan has established a strong service presence across the UAE and Saudi Arabia, ensuring parts availability and straightforward maintenance. The model typically sees a depreciation rate of 12-15% in its first year, holding its value better than many smaller emerging brands due to Changan's growing regional reputation.

Performance & Capability

The 192 hp turbocharged engine delivers its peak torque of 310 Nm from as low as 1,500 rpm, ensuring effortless overtaking on fast-moving highways like the E11. The 7-speed wet dual-clutch transmission is specifically engineered to handle high ambient temperatures better than dry-clutch alternatives, providing smoother shifts during the GCC summer. With three selectable drive modes, you can optimize the steering and throttle response for either fuel-saving city trips or spirited weekend drives.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is centered around a massive 30-inch wrap-around display that integrates the instrument cluster and infotainment into a single seamless unit. Rear passengers enjoy dedicated air conditioning vents and a nearly flat floor, which is a major comfort advantage for three occupants in the back. The openable panoramic sunroof features high-quality tinting to protect the interior from solar heat while maintaining an airy, premium feel throughout the cabin.

Safety

Safety is prioritized with a full ADAS suite including Forward Collision Warning, Automatic Emergency Braking, and a Fatigue Driving Reminder system. The vehicle is built on a high-strength cage body and comes standard with six airbags and ISOFIX anchors for child seats. The 540° camera system provides a virtual view of the ground beneath the car, giving you extra confidence when navigating unfamiliar terrain or narrow urban alleys.

The bottom line

This 2026 Changan X5 Plus Beyond Pro is the perfect match for a tech-savvy professional or young family looking for a high-spec, high-performance SUV without the premium price tag of a legacy brand.
