Summary

This GCC-spec GLS450 represents the pinnacle of Mercedes-Benz family luxury, offering a refined six-cylinder mild-hybrid powertrain that balances efficiency with the muscle needed for regional highways. The Black exterior remains a high-demand choice in the UAE and Saudi markets, ensuring strong liquidity and a timeless aesthetic. As a three-row SUV, it distinguishes itself from rivals with genuine adult-sized seating and the sophisticated AIRMATIC air suspension as standard. For the GCC buyer, this model offers the perfect blend of executive presence and the cooling performance required for extreme desert summers.

This Car vs Other 2026 GLS450s

As a current-year GCC-spec model, this vehicle carries the full weight of local warranty support and service center compatibility across the Emirates and wider Gulf. Choosing a GCC-native listing over an international import ensures that the radiator, AC compressors, and fluid cooling systems are specifically rated for 50°C+ ambient temperatures. The Black finish is a premier resale choice in the local market, traditionally holding its value better than more niche colors.

4MATIC vs Lower Trims

The 4MATIC system is standard on the GLS450, providing fully variable torque distribution that is essential for maintaining stability on sand-drifted highways or during heavy rain. Compared to base-level European configurations, this GCC-trim level includes essential luxury upgrades such as ventilated front seats and the advanced Burmester® Surround Sound system as standard equipment. It also features the upgraded MBUX Interior Assistant, which is often an expensive add-on in other markets.

GLS450 vs Segment Rivals

The GLS450 leads the BMW X7 in terms of third-row legroom, offering 34.6 inches of space that makes the rearmost seats genuinely usable for adults on long trips to Salalah or Al Ula. With a 90-litre fuel tank, it offers a superior cruising range compared to many competitors, reducing the frequency of stops during cross-border drives. Its air suspension provides a more cushioned, 'wafting' ride quality that is preferred for GCC highway cruising over the firmer, sportier tuning found in rivals.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for this mild-hybrid inline-six averages approximately 9 to 11 L/100km depending on how much time is spent in stop-start city traffic. Service intervals at authorized Mercedes-Benz centers in the GCC are typically every 15,000 km or 12 months, with a robust parts network ensuring minimal downtime in major hubs like Dubai or Riyadh. Historically, the GLS retains roughly 82-85% of its value after the first year in the GCC, performing well against luxury peers due to its high demand as a family workhorse.

Performance & Capability

The 3.0L turbocharged engine delivers a verified 367 hp, enabling the GLS450 to reach 100 km/h in approximately 6.1 seconds, which is impressive for a vehicle of this scale. The 48-volt EQ Boost system provides an additional 20 hp and instant torque for smoother overtaking on fast-moving highways like the E11. Standard AIRMATIC suspension allows the vehicle to be raised for increased ground clearance, providing extra confidence when navigating gravel tracks or soft sand during weekend family excursions.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is configured for seven passengers, featuring power-folding 50/50-split third-row seats and a massive cargo volume of up to 2,400 litres with all rear seats stowed. GCC-specific comfort is handled by a heavy-duty multi-zone climate control system and standard ventilated front seats to combat the summer heat. The twin 12.3-inch digital displays provide a high-tech command center, while acoustic glass ensures the cabin remains a quiet sanctuary from outside wind and road noise.

Safety

This GLS450 is equipped with a comprehensive suite of safety technologies, including Active Brake Assist, Blind Spot Assist, and a 360-degree surround-view camera that is vital for parking a vehicle of this size. The adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping systems provide significant relief during long desert highway stretches, while nine airbags come standard to protect all three rows of passengers. Mercedes-Benz’s Car-to-X communication further enhances safety by sharing real-time hazard warnings with other connected vehicles.

The bottom line

This GCC-spec 2026 GLS450 is the ideal choice for a buyer who needs the space of a full-size SUV without sacrificing the prestige and highway refinement of an S-Class. It represents a secure investment in the UAE market thanks to its regional specifications and high-liquidity color combination.
