Summary

This 2026 Mercedes-Benz GLS450 4MATIC is the quintessential choice for a high-end family SUV in the UAE, offering a refined inline-six engine that perfectly balances highway power with city efficiency. Its black exterior is a premier resale choice in the GCC market, known for holding its value and maintaining an executive presence from Dubai to Riyadh. As the 'S-Class of SUVs', it stands out with genuine adult-sized seating in the third row and a superior cooling system designed for peak Gulf summers. Buyers will appreciate the adaptive air suspension which manages our unique mix of smooth highways and uneven suburban terrain with total composure.

This Car vs Other 2026 GLS450s

As a brand-new 2026 model year, this GLS450 represents the latest in Mercedes-Benz engineering, often featuring updated MBUX software and refined driver assistance logic compared to early-run units. The black-on-black color combination is widely considered the safest and most liquid investment in the local pre-owned market. Given the typical GCC annual use of 25,000 km, purchasing this fresh 2026 example provides a massive advantage in future trade-in value and mechanical longevity.

4MATIC vs Lower Trims

The 4MATIC trim is the standard-bearer for the GLS in this region, adding the security of permanent all-wheel drive which is essential for maintaining stability on sand-dusted highways. Over lower-tier Mercedes SUVs, this trim prioritizes luxury with standard ventilated seats and a four-zone climate control system that ensures the third row stays as cool as the first. You also benefit from the AIRMATIC air suspension, a feature that significantly improves ride quality over the steel springs found in smaller models.

GLS450 vs Segment Rivals

The GLS450 leads the BMW X7 and Range Rover in passenger versatility, offering more intuitive third-row access and a larger fuel tank (90 litres) for long-distance hauls like the drive from Abu Dhabi to Muscat. While the Range Rover focuses on off-road heritage, the GLS is optimized for road-going refinement and high-speed highway stability, making it the better daily executive commuter. Its cabin insulation is specifically tuned to reject the harsh heat and wind noise typical of desert environments.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for this mild-hybrid powertrain typically averages around 11.3 L/100km, which is highly competitive for a seven-seat vehicle in GCC stop-start traffic. Mercedes-Benz maintains one of the strongest authorized service networks across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait, ensuring parts are readily available even in smaller cities. While European luxury SUVs naturally depreciate faster than Japanese alternatives, the GLS450 holds its value significantly better than its rivals, typically retaining 65-70% of its value after three years in the GCC market.

Performance & Capability

The GLS450's most impressive feat is its 6.1-second sprint to 100 km/h, enabled by an EQ Boost system that adds instantaneous electric torque for seamless highway overtaking. It offers a substantial towing capacity of 3,500 kg (braked), making it more than capable of hauling boats or horse trailers for weekend trips. The selectable drive modes, including an 'Off-Road' setting, work with the adjustable air suspension to raise the ground clearance to approximately 200 mm when navigating gravel tracks or light sand.

Comfort & Cabin

The interior is configured with seven seats, featuring power-adjustable second and third rows that fold flat for maximum cargo flexibility. Standard ventilated front seats and a massive panoramic sunroof create a high-end lounge atmosphere that remains comfortable even when temperatures exceed 45°C. Technology is anchored by the dual 12.3-inch MBUX displays, providing a digital cockpit experience that integrates seamlessly with local navigation and premium audio.

Safety

This GLS450 comes equipped with a comprehensive ADAS suite, including Active Brake Assist and a 360° surround-view camera which is vital for maneuvering a vehicle of this size in tight parking spaces. The blind-spot monitoring and adaptive cruise control are particularly useful for the fast-paced, multi-lane highway driving common in the Emirates. Multiple airbags, including window airbags for all three rows, provide peace of mind for the safety-conscious family buyer.

The bottom line

For the GCC family that refuses to settle for less than flagship luxury, this 2026 GLS450 represents a top-tier opportunity to own the segment's most refined three-row SUV in its most desirable color.
