What else can you say about the G-Wagon that has not already been said? A true Icon in the motoring world that even the non-car enthusiasts know what it is. But there’s something special about this G-Wagon…. It’s the G55 Edition 79. 1 of 79 special models built to commemorate the 1st G-Wagon that came to the Middle East region in 1979. To celebrate its success in this region, AMG outfitted its iconic SUV with a 'designo magno alanite grey' matte paint, carbon fiber-esque side steps, and titanium grey finished 19’’. AMG wheels. Inside, carbon fiber welcomes passengers, as do the supple high-grade Designo leather seats, Harmon Kardon Sound System and Alcantara roof cloth. With its frankly bonkers 507bhp Supercharged V8 to the boxy rugged looks they are truly one of a kind. This car really is a future classic, sought after in this region and appreciating in value year on year. A lot of time has gone in to bringing this stunning collectors edition car up to its former glory and it will not disappoint.
The G55 packs the full IMAX experience that is a large, glitzy box on wheels with the bellowing roar of an AMG Supercharged V8 coming from its chrome side pipes. The V8 is the same hand-built, Supercharged 5.5-litre found in many other high-powered AMG vehicles, but some tuning changes let it producer a total of 507 BHP, along with 700Nm of torque, that means 0-100 in just 4.9-5.1seconds!!!
But it is the G’s swagger on the street that matters most here. From the thundering exhaust to the rifle-bolt door locks to the vault-like kachunk when shutting the doors, the G55 is an aural delight. Not that many G55 drivers will explore the full extent of its abilities, but there are still three locking differentials for off-roading, a low-range transfer case, and minimal overhangs for steep inclines and declines. So, the G55 Edition 79 is every bit as capable off-road as it is on it. A real head turner that we’re incredibly excited we have managed to get our hands on, this is one we really don’t want to let go of and belongs with a proper enthusiast.
