With all the excitement over the upcoming 2017 Panamera, a complete redesign that will be larger and more accommodating yet no heavier than the current version, you’d think sales of the 2016 model would’ve dried up, but not so. In fact, sales of the now seven-season old first-gen Panamera have been strong so far this year, with buyers seemingly wanting to get hold of this modern-day V8-powered classic before it’s gone.
Receiving a truly sensational 4.8-liter V8 engine producing 440bhp and 520Nm of torque, with an impressive a 0-100km run of 4.4 seconds, while driving the steering is precise with the 4-wheel drive and handling is comparable to that of much smaller sports cars. Power can be served up with muscle-car wallops or in measured increments. The PDK transmission fires off gearchanges with urgency when pedalling the accelerator hard, or with fluid transitions when cruising down the highway.
On the inside the Panamera can accommodate four full-sized passengers and they will find a high level of comfort in any seat. From the driver seat, there is no mistaking the Panamera's interior for anything but a Porsche, because styling cues from the Porsche 911 echo throughout the cabin.
