• Top speed of 250 km/h
• 90-litre fuel tank standard

Summary

This S350 Long Wheelbase (LWB) is a staple of executive transport in the UAE, offering a refined blend of road presence and manageable running costs. While many flagship sedans of this era featured high-maintenance V8s, the 3.5-litre V6 provides a dependable alternative that still delivers the smooth, effortless power expected of the S-Class. The gold exterior is a classic choice for the region, maintaining a clean appearance even in dusty conditions while helping with heat reflection. With its GCC specification and extended rear legroom, it remains one of the most comfortable ways to traverse the Emirates. For the buyer seeking the prestige of a W221 without the complexity of larger powerplants, this is a balanced and sensible entry into luxury ownership.

This Car vs Other 2008 S350s

At 186,000 km, this vehicle's mileage is slightly below the typical GCC average of 20,000–25,000 km per year for a car of this age. Its gold finish is a highly practical choice for the Middle East, as it hides desert dust better than darker shades and assists in keeping cabin temperatures lower during peak summer. As a GCC-spec model, it features the cooling and filtration systems necessary for reliable operation in extreme heat compared to imported equivalents.

LWB vs Lower Trims

The LWB (Long Wheelbase) designation is the most sought-after configuration for the S-Class in the GCC, providing significantly more rear legroom than the standard model. This trim includes the Airmatic air suspension as standard, allowing the driver to raise the vehicle for speed bumps or lower it for highway stability. Inside, it adds premium touches like electrically adjustable rear seats and noise-insulating infrared-reflecting glass, features that are often optional or absent on the short-wheelbase S300.

S350 vs Segment Rivals

The S350 competes directly with the BMW 7 Series and the Lexus LS, leading the segment in terms of perceived prestige and ride isolation. Its 90-litre fuel tank is a major advantage for cross-emirate drives, providing a longer cruising range than many competitors. While rivals focus on sportiness, the S-Class prioritizes a 'magic carpet' ride quality that remains the benchmark for executive commuting.

Running Costs & Resale

The S350 achieves a combined fuel consumption of approximately 10.1 L/100km, making it significantly more economical for daily GCC traffic than the S500 or S600 variants. Service intervals are typically every 15,000 km, and with the most extensive authorized service network in the region, parts and specialized technicians are readily available in every major city. This V6 model generally holds its value better than the V8 versions in the used market due to lower long-term maintenance costs and higher demand from pragmatic buyers.

Performance & Capability

Powered by a 272 hp V6, this sedan reaches a top speed of 250 km/h, ensuring it never feels underpowered on fast-moving UAE highways. The 7G-Tronic automatic transmission provides nearly imperceptible shifts, enhancing the calm cabin environment even under brisk acceleration. The rear-wheel-drive layout and speed-sensitive power steering offer a planted, secure feeling during high-speed cruising between Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed around the GCC summer, featuring powerful multi-zone climate control and ventilated seats that are essential for local comfort. The extended wheelbase provides a limousine-like experience for rear passengers, complemented by high-quality wood veneers and soft-touch leather throughout. Acoustic glass effectively insulates the interior from road noise, creating a quiet sanctuary even in heavy city traffic.

Safety

Safety is comprehensive with eight airbags standard, including windowbags that cover the entire side glass area. The W221 generation introduced the Pre-Safe system, which automatically tensions seatbelts and closes windows if a collision is detected. Standard stability control and high-performance vented disc brakes ensure the car remains composed on sand-dusted road surfaces or during emergency stops on the highway.

The bottom line

This GCC-spec S350 LWB is the ideal choice for an executive or family looking for flagship luxury and rear-seat comfort without the high overhead of a V8 engine.
